Morning ani*fan, hope you had a good holiday. I think its always more difficult to stick to a budget on holiday because you want to enjoy yourself and not have to be thinking about money (or lack of it) all the time. As you say at least you know where the extra money went to because you had a budget to start with.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31
Mortgage overpayment savings - £16.08/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £800.960 -
I think I may have a buyer for my lawnmower. Just responded to an enquiry about it and waiting to hear when he wants to come and see it. This is good because I have no cash left to get to Uni this week and the emergency fund could do with a top up.
I wish pay day was sooner. I hate this last day of the month business. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Up with the lark this morning Ani!!!! Hpe the lawn mower goes - tis the best time of year to sell it - I have just our lawns for first time this year and have decided this year will be the last for one lawn ( going to dig it up and plant up a huge border at some time) and its the last year for the lawn mower - may look at a new one when end of season sales come along:)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

It's a shame you don't live closer Igamogam, I could have sold you my lawnmower at the end of the summer!
I bought a winter coat in the sales yesterday, reduced from £90 to £48.50. :T I'm never this organised but my last 2 winter coats came from a second hand shop and both are completely done now. There's something very satisfying about planning ahead! If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -

Hi Igamogam
I'm still here. Pay day finally arrived, DDs whizzing out of my account and all is in order. I'll do a debt total update in my signature once all the payments have cleared.
I'm feeling a bit low about all this, the debt, how long it's taking to pay back, all the things I would like to do with my lovely cash but can't cos I'm paying debts. Grr.
On the plus side I have an application in at work for funding to go to a conference in London. Hopefully I'll get a trip away that will cost practically nothing. My fear is that I get funded for some but not the whole amount and am expected to pay the difference myself. I have no cash, and road tax due at the end of this month. Sigh.
I sold the mower and ended up spending the money keeping my head above the water at the end of last month. At least I didn't have to use credit cards. Still, it was a bit depressing.
Hope everyone is feeling chirpier than me right now.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
In an effort to cheer myself up I did a calculation of how much I will owe once this month's payments have cleared. It turns out I have already paid off £1,094 Yippee!!! :j
I also reread my first post on this thread and realised I'm in a much better position now than I was then. All I need to do is keep up the good work.
This month I'm due £90 from some extra work I did, £210 tax rebate (still waiting) and £120 from an overpayment to my relocation loan which has been taken out of my wages by mistake. Looks like the cash will be there for my road tax, I may put a few more quid in my emergency stash and perhaps some extra to fling at the debt.
It's all looking good. I have no right to be getting this low about it all.
Onwards. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0
