Back in my flat after scrounging off the parents since end of April :p Spent £13.88 in Sainsbugs. They have 750g packs of pork mince at the same price as the 500g packs at the moment! Last 500g pack lasted a month so this will be lurking in my freezer for a good while. Bit annoyed as the shelf sticker for butternut squash says £1, got to the till and it was £1/kg and they only had huge ones so was nearly £2! Lots of squash soup coming up...

Budget is not looking good (OH's fault again). Having bought bits to take to a BBQ he decides that he has to show off by buying expensive meat and wine from M&S - so £32.72 down on that.

This leaves just £13.58 in the pot till month end. I'm now in full swing of running down the fridge for our holiday but will need to restock when we return and £13.58 ain't gonna cover that :(

Managed to go nearly two weeks between food shops, just using what I had in my cupboard. Went to Tescoids yesterday for a 'big' shop as I was passing that way anyway, stocked up on dog food and poop scoop bags as I had some money-off coupons, only to find that they only deduct the money off from one item! I had bought 3 bags of dog food and 4 packs of poop scoop bags, but only got 90p off one bag of food and 60p off one pack of bags - not very impressed, but at least now I'm aware of it so I won't be making that mistake again! My dog has his own separate budget, but I thought I would mention it here in case anyone else wasn't aware of this either. Anyway, I spent £8.70 on groceries and it should hopefully last me another two weeks (the dog should now be ok till the end of the month!).

Unfortunately the shop didn't have the gluten-free flour I need to bake bread, so I wasn't able to get everything I needed. The Tescoids Extra has it, but as I am also trying to save on petrol I wasn't prepared to spend an extra £3 worth of petrol to buy £3.40 worth of flour... Will hang on as best as I can and try to combine a trip to the Extra with some other errand.

I have updated my signature - 10 NSDs so far in May (incl. today), and it is all thanks to joining this board! Thank you very much, everyone! :D

It's rare for a voucher to be valid for more than one purchase, and the ones they send me for having a Clubc@rd that are valid for 2 uses are clearly marked as such on the front (top right corner if memory serves me right). And even then they can only be used against one item in any one shop, so you have to do two shops to use it twice (not tried doing them both in the same visit, but that could work as I don't think they say on separate days).

We have spent £92.76 already this month over 6 supermarket shops. We are over budget for where I thought we would be at this point in the month, and I think my husband may have something to do with that. I sent him shopping with a list and fair enough he got all the items on it, but he also purchased coffee. I don't drink coffee and he very rarely drinks it. I suspect we will through the unopened jar away in over a years time.

He also reads things like "2 onions" on the list to mean buy a 1kg bag. At present our meal plans don't contain enough home made meals to use an entire bag of onions (neither of us can actually cook that well.)
GC: £40 a week. Sticking to my budget, but never remembering to post in the relevant thread.
Probably buying toiletries that I don't need, as I can't resist a "bargain."

Slice or dice them and freeze them for later use. They're one veg that does brilliantly like for future cooking :)

Used up some sausages from the freezer for dinner. Meal plan for tomorrow:
    B porridge/cereal
    L packups with ham
D pizza for children, mushroom and onion curry for bf and me

    Tues:
    B as above
    L as above
    D sausage casserole

    Weds:
    B as above
    L as above
    D braised beef and mash

This will use up some sausages and beef from the freezer, and mushrooms and onions which have seen better days.

Feeling much better about my spending at this point of the month compared with this time last month, just need to keep it up!!

    Night all,
