Have been shopping this morning and now stand at £111.14/£250 for May (until 23rd).

Had a spend of £19.58 in Mr Ts; £3.50 on fruit/veg in the market; £3 in Boots and £3 in Iceland for loo & kitchen rolls, so a total of £29.08.

I think I might need to tighten the belt a bit over the next couple of weeks if I'm to come in on or under budget.

MrsCautious - I have just read your terrible account of the distressing and disgusting way in which your husband and you were treated during his last few days. Unfortunately I cannot in honesty say I was surprised though. Our daughter died of cancer and the way she was treated at the hospital was dismal however thankfully such a different story when she was admitted into the local hospice.

I have also just today put in a formal complaint about the ambulance service who refused to come out earlier in April resulting in DH spending nearly two weeks in hospital. I really didn't want to do this but felt that something must be done to try to prevent these things from happening to others.

Sorry this is off topic to the thread.

I forgot about the meal out on Friday -.- £28.80 to add to my spends (2 mains, 2 scoops of ice cream and a drink at our favourite Oxford pub)

I didn't know meals out count  Spent £130 at Brasserie Zedel on Saturday :o

Also spent about £30 at French Market yesterday on olives, bread, cheeses and chorizo. Still part of OHs birthday treat. Lovely walk by the river in Marlow then to the pub with his parents, before back home for cheese, bread, pate and olives for dinner. Plus OH bought me a case of Sauvignon Blancs as a pressie...not doing too well on the budgeting. Back on the wagon!

It depends on your personal rules. Some people have a 'fun' or 'outings' or 'treats' budget they come out of rather than grocery.

Spent on a meal out today but it was from our holiday savings budget so not counting on my GC.

Whilst at Bluewater we popped into W@itr@se and found 18 cocktail sausages marked down to £0.99p, I grabbed 2 packets and we went straight to the checkout. The lady on the till gave me one pound coin back when I went to pay, she said that they were now totalling up at £0.40 for two! Originally they were 2 packs for £5... wish I'd picked up a few more now :p

Yep, OH and I have a monthy "going out" budget separate from groceries. I just find it easier to manage. So I'm not including meals out in that figure.

You don't have to include meals out, I don't. The whole idea is that its your budget and you decide what to include.

Had to go to Mr T to get some teaspoons for work and had a look at the YS stuff while I was there.
I've already done my weeks shopping and spent this weeks budget so will have to account for it next week. Shouldn't be a problem though as my freezer is literally stuffed with meat and fish! I need a ban on buying it until it's used!
    Today I got 2 x whole trouts £2
    500g chicken mince £1.50
    2kg top rump joint £5.44
    4 x haddock fillets £4.32
    1 x 400g w/meal loaf £0.52

    Total spend £13.78

Think I need to do an inventory of all of the meat and fish that I have. I reckon with the contents of my kitchen you lot could come up with a meal plan for an entire month easily :o
