Last day and its a NSD so declaring £116.51 out of £165 (£48.49 under budget) this was made a lot easier by the fact that DH was in hospital for a while and I ate out of the freezers during this time.

Took out of the freezer last night 500g of the beef mince from L!dl when it was on offer at £1 and with lots of chopped carrots, onions, broccoli stalks, celery, mushrooms, oats and few other bits have made 4 portions of cottage pie and 6 portions of lasagne. Not bad for around £2.50 the lot so 25p per portion.

Off to read the May posts now.

Final figures are £122.35 spent from an official budget of £236.30. I had an unofficial (self-monitored) budget of two-thirds that (£157.53) and managed to stick within that as well. Have to admit I'd have been disappointed to go over the lower figure by much as I meal-planned from the freezer for most of the month. (I haven't done well at keeping track of what I've used from stocks this month though, so no idea how that's impacted my budget - must do better for May!). Didn't do badly for Whoopsies this month, netting £36.92 worth of goods for just £12.36

Split of spends looks like this
    2014-04-30-grocerybreakdownrev.jpg

Actual £ spend on junk is down on last month, but as a %age of spends it's increased primarily due to a huge drop in spends on 'protein' (meat, fish, cheese) because of freezer use-up. As this use up should continue for several months I'm really going to have to work on not spending on junk (which I can do by getting back to baking, as I have a huuuuge cupboard full of baking ingredients also want using up ;))

EDIT on 8/5/14 : Missed a £14 W0wcher spend from my totals (food hamper offer). so total is actually £136.35 from an official budget of £236.30 (and unofficial budget of £157.53). Still well under budget :) Going to have to lump this as 'other' even though most of the contents would be classed as protein or veg if I were buying the items individually. Adding this spend to my totals brings my junk %age down to 17.96 which is slightly better ;)

    Good afternoon :)
Been a bit AWOL all month due to illness & life interfering with my on-line time :o but I was still keeping track of grocery spends & all receipts have been verified & counted, checked & double-checked & I'm over the moon to have come in at £160.62/£200 :j There was also no take-always at all this month ( well, for me anyway, did see a sneaky McD's bag in the car, but that was out of OH's pocket, not mine, lol ), so I'm very pleased with that. This challenge really has been a blessing to me, thanks everyone for all your wonderful posts :T

See you all over on the May thread!

    Hi everyone,
I've not been on this site for over a year. I've got myself into a great deal of debt since I was here last. I'm hoping that I can rectify this by following all your wise choices.
I need to find the May '14 Grocery Challenge page, but so far have failed to locate it. I would be very grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction please?
    Thanking you in anticipation,
    Samantha22 :)
