Something odd is going on with our Abbey application (via broker). Odd-good or odd-bad remains to be seen! The application went in last Wednesday (25th) and most of the necessary docs were supplied to our broker (a couple of things are taking a few days to get hold of). The broker texted me on Friday (27th) saying the application had been approved and valuation instructed!!!

I called the broker today (I've been away all weekend) and he said they
haven't requested any documentation for us at all. All of his Santander applications are underwritten (there is or was a fast track thing but he doesn't use it) and so he didn't really understand what was going on.

Has anyone had a similar experience with this lender? I am assuming they will be scrutinising our finances at some stage prior to actually
    offering us a mortgage?
I posted this morning suspecting I had had a drive by valuation, our papers went in to santander on friday, so perhaps they have sped up their game, fingers crossed this is the case.
We did the affordability checker with the broker and got an AIP on friday, I haven't had any calls requesting paperwork though our broker has our bank statements and wage slips so perhaps they simply requested them from him.
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

I spoke to my broker earlier and he hasn't been asked to provide anything! :undecided
  • Yay ive had my application approved today with santander.

    Heres my timeline

    Application submitted 12th june

    Passed to underwriters 13th june

More info requested on 23rd june

Info submitted 24th june and submitted to underwriters

    Application approved 01st july

    Valuation instructed 1st july

What a relief. Ive been reading all the horror stories and worrying myself silly.

My broker Ian has been great at simply investment.

I would most definitely recommend simply investment if anyone needs a good broker!!!

They requested my tax credit award letters and confirmation from my broker that i could afford the mortgage once tax credits cease.

I wasnt expecting them to agree it today. Lovely surprise!
  • exchanging and completing next week :)

its taken a while since application got agreed in the middle of june due to the owner not supply answers to questions raised by my solicitor...

Well no complaints from me regarding how quick the process took with Santander:

    25th June- Application submitted
    26th June- Passed to underwriter
    27th June- Underwriter approved/valuation instructed
3rd July- Valuation recieved (all OK)
    3rd July- Mortgage offered

The broker fee is the best £295 I've ever spent!

I think this thread should be put to bed, my solicitor received funds from Santander today ready for completion tomorrow. The whole process was easy and very quick - would have been quicker if the solicitor hadn't been on hols for the last 2 weeks. :j
  • Ok. So I submitted application on the 26th. Documents were requested on the 27th and 28th - both provided by broker on Monday 30th. No movement since then on the tracker - why has it not been passed to underwriting?
