Abbey/Santander application - Delay

We are first time buyers and our mortgage application was submitted to Abbey by our broker on 1st May.
Fingers crossed we will hear something in the next 2 weeks. This delay is making us really anxious although feeling less stressed after reading the MSE messages. Good luck all0 -
We withdrew our application after 9 weeks of very stressful waiting and bring sent to back off the queue.
Mortgage broker said he'd never seen anything so bad in all his time of being a mortgage broker (over 20 years) and admitted that even the business development manager couldn't find any reason for the delay and questions about wife's income.
Have now gone with Halifax and things are already progressing at a far faster rate.0 -
Update for you. We have exchanged ready to complete this Friday. From offer to completion 2 months. Shouldn't complain but we are FTB and the house we are buying is empty and in no chain but we've got there! X0

After 4 weeks of waiting my valuation was less than the agreed price so I either need to appeal, walk away and find another property or make up the shortfall. Ordinarily I think I would have tried another lender but I have some pretty hefty ERCs. Whichever way I go I have my fingers crossed that Santander can respond quickly... I don't think I'll hold my breath...0

Took us 6 weeks to get to a decline with Santander. Now applying with Natwest. Broker has run it through preapproval checks etc etc to make sure no problems. App gone in today, expecting valuation date before the end of the week. If only we had gone to them first.0

Hi all, thought I would join this thread for some Santander sympathy.
We submitted our application via a broker 26th March. Last wednesday, 7th May, broker rang to say it should all be agreed with 72 hours. Hooray we thought. He rings again today and said our application had been declined due to the underwriter misunderstanding the phrase "term time only" (I work in a school. We are paid a salary like everyone else!) broker complained and now our application is back in the long, winding queue to be seen next week at the earliest. So it's looking like nearly two months for a mortgage offer. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.0 -
From AIP to full offer - 7 days must have bucked their ideas up0

As I have said before, I think a lot of these issues are down to the broker, or how the application has been submitted.
I submitted an application yesterday morning, and immediately uploaded, all of the confirmation I though they may need, yesterday afternoon, it was through processing and in the underwriting queue, which I appreciate is not there yet, but some of the posts on here seem to take weeks to get to this stage, which would imply documentation is not being submitted correctly.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
