Abbey/Santander application - Delay

Don't hold your breath - our application was made 26th March!
Broker was pretty good at uploading everything quickly - payslips, etc. We had one or two extra requests from them and the documents were uploaded by the broker super quick.
I know there have been lots of holidays too - Easter and a few Bank Holidays, so that's held things up, but this is getting RIDICULOUS.
I have a feeling that ours is taking even longer because we have 5% deposit so I'm assuming they are checking us out a bit more. A friend of mine had hers submitted 2 weeks ago and has just had the survey done - hers is 25% deposit so I think she was a relatively easy case.0 -
Is there anything we can do to get the application done more quickly? We have been told we are the final check and maybe survey to be booked this week.. Mortgage broker said that last week. And now saying this week? The vendor is seriously get fed up and so are we. Deal was done so we can get in ASAP. It's now the 5th week with the underwriters0

5 weeks with the underwriters.....!!!!!!
Can i ask what sort of deposit you are putting down?
Im 5 working days in to the underwriters and getting stressed i remember rare 2008 when you could have a offer/survey all done and dusted in little less than 48hrs - bring back the good old days0 -
I'm pretty new to all this but I would assume they have different departments for different cases, seriously though London and Country are great, if you need a recommendation of the guy that dealt with us pm me0

We had originally spoke to them and they offered us a mortgage with nationwide but wanted more of a deposit. Anyways I called the guy back tonight and we spoke about my current application with another broker and we talked about switching. He was so honest and nice. He said abbey are taking 25 to 30 days to get offer out. He said thats working days. So the 5 to 6 weeks waiting time. So I counted and I'm on 21 days and he thinks I should get my offer out shortly, as does my broker. He also said they are all delayed, all the mortgage providers are lagging. I so wish we went with London and county first though, so much more reassuring. Now have to learn to be patient0 -

I mean 5 weeks since we did our first application with the broker. It's come back to us twice asking for more info. Fingers crossed no more info needed and they will give us a letter of offer.0 -
Hi All,
I thought some of you might like to see this. Here's a screen dump from our completed / offered MATS application. Of course I've removed all sensitive information but it may give some of you that are about to submit an inclination of timescale.

We're now just waiting for the final searches to come back (drain search I think!) before we exchange contracts.

Honestly I think ours was with Underwriters for about 5 weeks, was hell!
But we just signed the contracts yesterday so we just got to wait for an exchange now!!0 -
Hi
I am also currently awaiting a mortgage offer from Santander. However, I do not seem to have been waiting as long as some of you have. My application went in via my broker on 16th May. Went to underwriting queue on 21st and today they have confirmed all satisfactory and have instructed valuation. Should receive offer as soon as valuation has been completed hopefully.0
