If it's not a basic Barclays account then it's always a risk. And for most banks, going BR is automatic closure, no matter what phone or branch staff may tell you.

I am sorry CB, time after time I’ve heard this, some are lucky and their accounts are downgraded to a basic one, but this is rare. You should be fine with Barclays, let us know how you get on.

Please can I join you lovely lot? Going bankrupt tomorrow my appointment is at 8.15 :O. Worried sick I've filled out the forms wrong :( also for the refunded court fees I only have bank statements as proof of income and benefits is this enough? I could really do with the £175! Also I'm moving house in 2 weeks, will this effect anything? And finally how long did everyone's banks get frozen for? I stupidly didn't change mine and me and my partners still use a joint one, it's only a basic account but with debit cards no over drafts or debt owed on it
Feel terrible as he gets paid Friday :/ I've withdrawn everything in it, the banks with nationwide. Sorry if these questions have been asked and answered before I couldn't find any answers. Thanks in advance. X

Hi Beccanator, you can join us and welcome to March's BR Club, I've added your name to post one.

I hope today is going OK and have my fingers crossed for you.

Please do ask your questions on the main BR board for more answers and support.

Re the bank it is so hard to say as it does differ from branch to branch. Ring Nationwide and ask it they will downgrade your account to a basic one, if they don't then open a basic account at Barclays.

:staradmin Hi Everyone and Welcome to the March’s 2014 Bankruptcy Club :staradmin

This club is for everyone who has gone or going through the process of Bankruptcy during March 2014. So please feel free to join and post.

Pop your name on here, the date that you went/are going Bankrupt. Then just keep everyone in the club updated throughout the next year about your BR journey. That way you can all stick together, compare notes and be there to support each other during the different stages of your Bankruptcies.
Remember this is your board so keep posting :hello:

Obviously anyone can come on here and post anything that will help and you are all welcome. Any important questions that need answering please still post them on the main board, as you will receive more advice and help.

~ Please do not include too much information as the IS (Insolvency Service) are known to frequent this forum and they may identify individual cases, so username and date only, thank you ~

    Best wishes
