I spent the weekend working on my patchwork. It's in black and white fabrics. I had put it away for a while, but got it out to show someone the other day and that made me revive it. It's currently the size of a single bed but needs to be a KingSize. So loads to do. Will probably need to get more fabric to be able to finish it but as am on a stash busting
Mission it may be some time before it gets completely finished!
Today I stash bust for the recycle centre.
Least I get paid to do it. If money wasn't so tight I would be tempted to take a few days off to work on my own things. Oh well.
Tomorrow I am starting to teach a lady to sew. She has chosen a vintage apron to make. I may take some of my own fabric along and copy it!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Finished this today.
I have stitched - Redwork on to a tea towel - another part of a Christmas present ready. I used a vintage kitchen image and stitched in black to match the tea towel. I bought the tea towel in Paperchase - during a sale of course.
I have done frayed edges on this one - I backed the old cotton sheet that I stitched on with some interfacing. I will do stitched edges on the next tea towel - what do you think is best?Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Florenceem your makes are quite beautiful.
I keep saying I must post some of my makes but having to do it through photo bucket always takes time and I've usually forgot my password!
Most of my pics are on my iphone and I'm not sure you can post pics from it on to here.
I've started a baby boys quilt. Just a simple small squares one but the material is cute so it should look sweet.
I didn't know about the stash busting thread either even though I read your post about it  I need something to motivate me in that area!

The first looks kind of tunic esk (can't see very well due to the pattern & browsing on my phone), the second a T-shirt pattern should do with the front widened slightly for the pleats in the neck I'd think?- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Can I ask for advice on clothes patterns please?
I am pretty new to sewing, although I have made a few things (curtains, bags and skirts) and I am looking into getting a pattern to try out but I have zero experience using them, so I'm a little confused
On the packets there is pictures of multiple garments, can you make all of these things with the one pattern or is it a case of 'choose one item?'
And can I use the patern a few times over? Ie if I wanted to do a top, could I make three in different fabrics using the same pattern? Or is it a new pattern everytime?
I have read that the simplicity range is best for beginners, is this true? Or can you recommend another brand?
Also, while I'm here, can anyone direct me to an online store that sell 'cheap' fabrics to try on? Bearing in mind that I don't use ebay.Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0
