Pixiedust, I have a reel end of white paper from our local newspaper office (it looks like a giant toilet roll with not much paper left on it) but I intend tracing the pattern pieces I want onto that, then I can make different styles and different sizes from the original pattern.
That's the idea, but if it actually is do-able, well that's another thing :rotfl::hello:  please play nicely children !0 -
Great idea, babyblooz!0

I think that is what those little wheel type things are for, I think they transfer a pricked line onto the paper underneath.:hello:  please play nicely children !0

Yes that's what those little wheels that look like pastry cutters are for.
I use all sorts of different style patterns, and always trace them off leaving the original in tact. Although I used to use greaseproof paper but now they have changed it to waxed and it won't write on or cellotape together. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Popped into Pondland yesterday and noticed they had some sewing bits and bobs in, glass headed pins, sticky hemming web, sewing needles, stitch ripper and a set of three tailors chalk pencils. Thought it might be useful for some of you sewers out there, There were also knitting needles and various other bits and bobs.:hello:  please play nicely children !0

I'm really excited. I ordered an overlocker the other day and it's just arrived! Some of the threads had broken though so I had to re-thread it, which is fiddly as anything, but at least now I know how to do it, and it works perfectly.
A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a new sewing machine - I was so fed up with the one I had which had a four step buttonhole, and no matter how carefully I measured and marked the buttonholes on the shirt I was making, every single one came out a different size  So my new machine has three different one step buttonholes.0 -
feeling very pleased with myself
managed to cut up the old curtain and turn it into a platform valance yesterday. it looks really good i did hand sew the sequin trim in the end which was a pain as it kept fraying but i got there in the end despite my 3 yr old managing to un thread my machine whilst i was at the ironing board . it fits the bed perfectly. next project is cushion covers for the kids playroom and a jersey top which im a bit scared of to be honest
think i need to grit my teeth and just give it a go. any tips for cutting and stitching jersey fabric ?
iv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect

I haven't been to work all week. I've been struck down with a virus and practically confined to bed.
Staff had to do the children's party for me.
I am still laid up, and DGD had tonsilitus but she is now better. Wish I was. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
