I remember Clothkits! I made myself a gardening pinny once and loads of things for my daughter when she was small, didn't realise they were still around.

As frequently happened they were taken over by a BIG company (sorry can't remember who), and then just disappeared. The current owners spent a long time trying to buy them back from what I recall. Page on Wikipedia.

I still have a few kits left from back in the 80s, might make them up for my GrandDaughter when we find them again! Our house is chaos at the mo, too much stuff, not enuff space. I loved the screen printed patterns, lovely stuff.

    Here's some pictures!

So, back to knickers......I don't have a pair made from cotton to chop up to make a pattern.....I imagine they'd have to be larger than any made of jersey because of lack of stretchiness......am I right?

Eta I have just cut out the next Walkaway dress, I hope to get it slowly sewn over the next week or so.

I have finished the second walkaway dress and am quite pleased with it. I did have to do battle with the bust darts, and wrestle with hemming the full skirt, but I think I won on both counts!

I will see about the cost of getting the pattern I have printed out and what it would cost to send out for the Knickers.
Mine are cotton lawn usually, but cut on the bias. I think there might be a few pictures on my blog or Facebook pages for those who know me.
There is a book you can buy that has patterns for lingerie that's about £12.99 I think. I will look it up when I get back to work tomorrow's
I have just got back from my long weekend in Portugal and so I shall have to wait until tomorrow to give you any details.

    Pretty things, Mooloo :)
  • i love the paw patrol costumes mooloo my 3 yr old would adore those lol.
my sewing still seems to be about planning at the minute as im trying to finish clearing the garage conversion of boxes of stuff from when we moved so it can be a useable room. i did manage to sew the thermal blackout linings into my daughters curtains and im definately starting the valance this week. we have a bedstead so the flat sheet is to go under the matress just basically to hold everything together im then going to cut pieces to cover the sides and end of the bed and sew them to the sheet. i just need to measure everything 3 times to make sure iv worked it all out properly. i also bought some black jersey fabric so im going to try the crossover top pattern i got free in my sewing magazine as my first real project.
iv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect

    Thanks Pixie-dust.
I don't get to make much these days, I spend most of my day on alterations or serving customers. I am hoping to make a slot in my day to stop the alterations and create something. But how successful that will be will depend on the shop and how busy it is.
I hardly did any sewing the last two weeks, it was all paperwork or customer service.
Tomorrow I have private lessons starting with a Russian lady. Who doesn't speak much English! That should be interesting.

I can chalk up another failure on the knicker front. I was going great guns until the elastic, as usual, and I managed to sew it on wrong. Again.

Perhaps elastic and I are not destined to be bosom (bottom ;) ) buddies!
