I make knickers all the time.
I use cotton lawn mostly, with cotton jersey gussets. Buy elastic on eBay.
I can get size 12 knickers out of a fat quarter.
I teach classes regularly, it's always fun.

I will sort you out the basic pattern instructions if I get a chance Tomorrow, I'm on my own at work so it will depend on how busy it is.
