Back to sewing, hello mojo
Last sewn 16 months ago, repairing stretch lycra for my husband, who passed away last february. Been sewing since age 8, 60 years ago
Have been altering my clothes this week. Had to spend time re-learning how to re-thread my 12 year old babylock overlocker. So far neatly turned up a difficult dress hem on a very stretchy dress, taken up two pairs of trousers and shortened sleeves on two tops
Craftsy has been an inspiration into modern ways and shortcuts and am watching janet pray at the moment. Many of these classes are on special offer, when I buy them. Am raring to get going on garment making but am restraining myself until I get rid of more clothes. I have hundreds of patterns including from america and aus and use ottobre, loving and wearing the parka I made
Am in process of looking after my back as am now using a desk and my chair is too low, so am about to order an ergonomic office chair without arms. So stash busting here I come, I have cupboards full of fabric and lots on rolls and on hangers, lovely stuff, silks, moulton, linens etc
Am just starting now to unpick hem of capri trousers from a sale, they are neither long nor short as my legs are short. I will lengthen them and remove the side slit0 -
Hooray for getting your mojo back, Kittie0

I am back at work, on reduced hours this week. Yesterday I made 3 sets of caravan curtains (lined), and altered another longer set, and managed to shorten two pairs of trousers. I still haven't made space to regain my workroom at home though. So my own makes for sale are just not happening.
Next week when DGD goes to her Mum for half term I am hoping I will be well enough to blitz without interruptions. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I'm sorry you are still feeling poorly, Mooloo.
Walkaway dress from duvet cover just needs hemming now but that's a job for another day.0 -
I can`t find this thread, only by finding my posts, I accidentally found it in the first place. Where is the thread? Is it in old style?
Re capri pants. The slit was at the back so couldn`t lengthen. Undid the hem and noted the industrial and neat method of making the flap for future reference. Cut off at top of flap, overlocked and then top stitched from the outside, very neat and looks good, similar to long shorts, perfect for my holiday as I don`t wear shorts due to chunky legs. Have ordered another pair of capri pants, £25 reduced from £50. Also ordered some unfinished leg trousers for holiday, better than having to unpick every pair I buy
Cannot wait to re-start sewing proper. I have a cut out coat (ottobre), did it last year before dh passed away, red wool. Must do that before starting something new. Am going to follow several janet pray tips eg I have a skirt that fits me beautifully, 6 gore with fitted waistband and side zip. Will cut the pattern in ebay craft card, punch a hole and hang pieces in the wardrobe. Will also layer fabric and cut several pieces out in one go, for several skirts in different colours. I may layer the fabric with paper, having bought couch roll which will stop it slipping. I am also going to be using weights not pins0 -
There should be a heading in the top right bar called quick links, in the drop down menu Subscribed Threads if you click on that it will show up the threads that you have commented on. That should help. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

I watched the Sewing Bee and noted that they all used Janome machines. .[/QUOTE]
I think programmes are used to subtly advertise stuff eg the mixers in the bake off programmes. No doubt they are all thoroughly checked before use in the programmes. Hope you get the machine sorted once and for all
I bought myself a bernina two years ago and it is very good. I also have a babylock overlocker and a babylock coverstitch.
Had a janome in the distant past, it did me well, then upgraded to elna which was always going wrong, then brother which I gave to dd before bernina0 -
Just bought another craftsy class. Marcie Tilton called `the artful t shirt` it includes the pattern Vogue 9057 which has very good reviews on sew direct. The class plus pattern is 50% 0ff at under £16
Am enjoying watching my craftsy classes at the moment, several are at least two years old0 -

I've got a few of those to watch too. I'm waiting for a pattern for one I bought recently. I've got the 'sew the perfect jeans' one and I've now got a jeans pattern from Jalie to do (it involves a lot of tracing though!)0
