The old thread was getting rather cumbersome so we have been asked to start a new thread.

This thread continues on from the original thread here

I wonder if anyone can help me, or direct me in the right direction.
I have purchased a second hand Embroidery Machine. A brother PE180D. It has a selection of built in Disney pictures and some other generic pictures.
It needs a memory card, to be able to add other patterns.
I have bought a PE scanner, which comes with a writable memory card. I have to drawer the designs, scan, and then convert etc. So something I want to investigate, but what I had really wanted was the ability to get the many downloadable PES files from the internet, onto a memory card.
But does anyone know of any equipment that would make that possible?
I am presuming I will need some sort of Flash drive or something, but haven't a clue where to start looking.
Thanks if anyone can help me.
Meanwhile I still have a lot of alterations to do, so I better do them before I play too much.
A couple of my bits are on my blog, from the designs that are there.
But not much yet. Other jobs are calling first. Alas.

  • I am also looking for some advice. my local quilting shop has told me that a sizzix machine can cut fabric for applique. Is it as simple as using such a machine for cutting card i.e. a cuttlebug etc?

If it is easy to use is there any particular model which is worth a try and last of all could anyone point me in the direction of where I could get a sizzix at a good price? thanks in anticipation Julie

Hi Julie. If you go on you tube and search for 'sizzix for cutting materials' there's a great demonstration on there. I must admit it looks so easy and cutting out squares for quilting with a rotary cutter does get me in a tizzy, to put it mildly!
Maybe search for 'cuttlebug for cutting materials' someone may have posted something about that too.
Can't really help re prices but I have seen them on amaz*n and *bay. There's also something called an Accuquilt which cuts material for sewing and quilting projects. Demonstrations on you tube :)
You must let us know if you end up getting one.

  • never thought to look on you tube. I was going to pay the local quilting shop to cut me out a few baby ducks (as in bathtime ducks) and the owner made this suggestion so def going to get online.

I bought some memory cards and a Card machine on eBay. Broke the bank doing it. But they didn't have all the discs for the software so feel rather conned! Can do some of what I wanted to do, but not all of it. Spent hours on the computer trying to work it all out.
I can't afford to buy yet another software package new or on EBay. So frustrated. So I have the PE design upgrade version 5. But without version Five it's useless!
Least the card reader works of sorts!
Now things need to be stepped up a bit as outgoings have exceeded income for quite a while now.
Although I did have a new customer yesterday. Word of mouth is a bit slower then I need.
