WANTED hangover cures

  • Aspirin is a better painkiller than paracetomol
    Risk factors for toxicity

Chronic excessive alcohol consumption can induce CYP2E1, thus increasing the potential toxicity of paracetamol.[14] For this reason, other analgesics such as aspirin or ibuprofen are sometimes recommended for hangovers.

I find aspirin also works better as a painkiller.

If you have a juicer and you are not so bad you can face the effort then freshly juiced apples works well. Lot's of antioxidants. Paracetomol is a lifesaver too.

Berocca vitamin supplement always sorts me out (the soluble one, not the tablet) - it gets a huge dose of vits C & B into your system (if you have some the night before you can minimse the morning after effects). Follow it up with a couple of bananas and a couple of painkillers, and you should begin to feel human.

caution is of course required in the long term use of aspirin, gastric bleeding is a bit worse than a hangover. And that great scientific institution the BBC have 'confirmed' that bananas are good for hangovers? confirmed?!

Alka Seltzer always works for me...

though obviously if Aspirin doesn't suit you, this wouldn't work for you either.

Boots has an own brand alternative, which works as well. And for the really bad ones, there's an Alka Seltzer XS (Extra Strong?), which contains Paracetamol & Caffeine as well as...

Unfortunately have had to use these on a number of occasions, when I was younger...
No reliance should be placed on the above.

    What is your problem?

The programme on the BBC simply explained the science behind why bananas are good for hangovers. Sadly I can't remember it, I had a hangover (and no bananas) :p

Maybe you could do with a drink ...

Prawn cocktail crisps, diet coke, bar of galaxy, trip to Mcdonalds, a couple of hours more sleep, then a curry or a pizza. It doesn't get rid of the hangover, but it does while away the time until you can wake up the next morning and feel normal again. Oh yes, and a sympathetic partner to go out and get them all for you!

    Havent had a drink for months but used to consume rather a lot!! My persona fave was;
Paracetamol & codeine soluble with dioralite for the drug bit then coke (sweet so helps with the headache) and loads of water. All I could usually stomach was toast with butter & raspberry jam!
Avoid salty stuff as hangover is much to do with dehydration! If head is really bad go back to bed with a cold flannel over your eyes & keep it cold (ice if its really bad). Prob to late for this (hope you feel better today!!) but milk thistle also a real help if you drink alot as suggested by OP but prob best not to! Watched a prog on C4 recently about liver damage & it scared the life out of me!! Did anyone see that? Ikky!!

    Thanks everyone for the tips.

Went out on the tiles again last night. 2 4 1 offer in the bar, amazing bargain night. Unfortuantely last my bleedin keys i'm soooooo annoyed with myself.

So wake up this morning, thirsty as hell, had 2 paras, pint of water & a banana. Had read the tip bout barocca b4 so go them sitting waiting for me, gonna have that after writing this.

Love the idea bout the rehydration satchets (for upset tummy).

Don't feel bad at the mo as I think i'm still piddled from night before.

If anyone watched that tv programme bout the liver damage can they let me know what it was called (defo need something to curb my binge drinking).

Reckon I now need to search this site for a cheap car key cutter!!!!!!!
