Finding a job following dismissal for gross misconduct

Ive been sacked twice, once for gross misconduct which was actually the result of an 18 months campaign against me by junior staff who wanted my job, my bosses were a (useless) board of trustees. I complained about my working conditions and rather than deal with them, they dismissed me
Just made up all this untrue stuff about me, suspended me when I was off sick with stress, disciplined me for going into grievance and then sacked me
I was also sacked by a boss last year who was just sack happy. I was only working part time, wasnt the only person who she dismissed.
In the first instance, I went to new employers, I was honest. I didnt ask my ex employers for a reference, theyd have put the boot in anyway. I had work 6 weeks later, also went back to uni
Lots of people get sacked and find other work, honesty is the best policy really.0 -
And have not told the companies why they are no longer at the company. No mentions of the GM yet.0

So if the OP has a better CV they may have got the interview over someone else who has no GM over their head. I wouldn't be happy as an interviewer if I had turned someone down. We’ve had to remove your signature. There are many companies who use the excuse of gross misconduct as a way to get rid of people without having to pay them notice pay.
Just because someone has been dismissed for gross misconduct doesnt mean theyve done anything that is gross misconduct.
I turned up at a job about 18 months ago to get a letter saying come into work tomorrow (without representation) to basically be dismissed. I hadnt done anything.
I fought it, they still sacked me in the end, but they knew fine well I hadnt done anything that was gross or even misconduct, my face just didnt fit and I wasnt the first person the employer had done it to.
Sometimes people do make mistakes, its still possible for them to find work or it should be. Unless someone has done something really horrendous I dont think people should be written off.0 -
Thank you Pauline!! You don't know how reassuring it feels to know other people have got through this.
Extremely nervous about tomorrow's interview and how they will react but I know I need to apply for anything and everything to have a chance if getting back into work.0 -

A lot of people with a GM would not get past the sift process.
