And we might give more credence to your views if the moderators hadn't had to edit one of your previous posts on this thread (#45) because it was considered to contain personal abuse.

Hardly a 'knight in shining armour' are you.

Which was in response to post 44 which also has had the personal abuse aimed at me edited....

You don't need authority to help a damsel in distress....

The situation the OP put herself in is so ridiculous that people can't understand why she chose to put her safety in the hands of the first person she comes across. She rolling the dice and hoping something works out

The OP didn't want to explain how she ended up in a random city at 2am on a Friday morning without a hotel reservation. She didn't explain why she walked half a mile at 2am to find a hotel rather than jumping in a taxi.

The receptionist at the Premier Inn was busy looking after paying customers. You can't expect him to look after non-paying customers. Particularly when you were wrapped up in bed at the time.

They're saying that because the OP didn't phone up for a hotel on the train she deserved to spend the night sleeping on the streets of Dorchester.

In addition without permissions from a senior manager a premier inn receptionist doesn't have the ability to phone alternative hotels to try and find somewhere for her to stay, and even if they did get permission they have no ability to find the phone number of these alternative hotels.

The gist is that there are a lot of people on this thread who would not do anything at all to help someone in trouble.

    They are terrible terrible people....

No-one who disagrees is saying that they wouldn't help. It's just the PI employee may have had his/her hands tied.

Hell if I was staying at the PI that night I would have offered to share my room (and without any VikingSausage). Or I would have driven her around to find somewhere to stay.

She was due to arrive at 8pm not 2am so her late arrival was outside her control. It's also irrelevant as how she got to the hotel doesn't matter, it's the lack of care from the premier inn receptionist when faced with this situation that I find disappointing.

I doubt at 3am the premier inn staff were rushed off their feet.

It's a shame you weren't there -- you could have berated the OP in person for getting stuck in a horrible situation -- I'm sure you're just as forthcoming in real life.

I'm not a knight in shine armour, just when people are in distress and I can help then I will do. I thought that was true for most people.

I have discovered today it's not!

Perhaps you would be so gracious as to educate me.

    I'll try.

No one said helping or not helping someone was a business decision.
I said requiring ID was a business decision.

Two different arguments. You don't mix them together and come up with a ridiculous conclusion

    We understand now?

even if her train had been on time, she was due to arrive at 8 pm so really should have had some sort of accommodation organised

common sense should tell you that if your hoping to acquire accommodation on the 'off chance' you really need to start looking/ phoning places alot earlier

She may have planned to get a bus or connecting service. We don't know as this information has not been provided.

    It's still irrelevant.

It seems to be the consensus that the OP deserved it which I think is harsh
