Stick beans climb poles and smoother, runners are rough skinned and need the "strings" removing from the sides, or so I was told as a child.
I had chicken breast today stuffed with cream cheese with chives, and because I spotted it when I cut my chives a few snips of thyme leaves, I love my herbs from the garden.
I have a jar of sauerkraut in the cupboard, not sure why I bought it as I have tried it before and didn`t like it, is there anything to make it more palatable @MrsStepford.Do I need it or just want it.2 -
I don't know, I had it at my French penfriend's house in France aged 13 and not had sauerkraut since. I was thinking of plonking it on sliced meat and having cheese next to it. Chicken sounds scrumptious @pamsdish2

Been eating salad for the last 3 days, 2 bags, 1 of watercress and rocket, the other some sort of leaf mix, not keen on lettuce, if I must usually romaine, day 1 was with monkfish kebabs, the other 2 days were half a can of corned beef each day, making chilli today, mince defrosted and will look out the other ingredients later, pork tomorrow.Do I need it or just want it.2

I'm not keen on lettuce either. I buy seeds and grow herbs and buy growing herbs from supermarkets. Last night, had marrow provencale with grated cheese flung on top. Salad for lunch today. Husband had olives, Feta, basil and pickled cucumber for lunch.2

Made chilli today, slightly carby, although no rice, just the beans, but it`s the weekend.Do I need it or just want it.2

I think we all need some encouragement at times, not been bad all week then last evening I lost my grip.
A new day today, I see my meal planner suggests chicken, have various veggies to use up, I will take a deep breath and continue.Do I need it or just want it.1 -

I lost over 10 pounds in Jan-March this year by lowish carb (no bread, small amounts of rice and pasta) but then lockdown came along and I have put most of it back on again through comfort eating and lack of exercise. My main problem is portion control - what I eat is healthy enough but I just eat too much of it - living alone it is too easy to have second helpings without anyone else knowing.

Me too @Doshwaster every day is a new start, also live alone, I have always struggled with portion control, and also eat too much "healthy" foods, I tend to eat O.M.A.D. mostly and like that meal about 2 p.m., somedays I do have eggs done someway if hungry early. I try to restrict my calorie intake to 1200 but red meat is very important to me and can take a big portion of my calories, I can be tempted by bread and potatoes very easily, although I do have both in the bungalow all are frozen.
Had roast beef yesterday with carrots, beans, and hangs head in shame, roast potatoes. Will finish the beef today either with salad or some more veggies, depends on the weather.Do I need it or just want it.2 -
I see some confusion here about low carb diets. The definition is anything under 130g of carbs per day. A ketogenic or keto diet, is 20g - 50g of carbs per day. If you choose a low carb diet, you DON'T count calories and you eat until you feel full, no portion control.. If you don't feel hungry, you don't have to eat eg pay attention to your stomach, not the clock.
Unless the bread you've bought or made is higher protein, higher fibre, lower carb bread, it's too carby. Bread doesn't have enough nutrient value anymore. So much so, that the RSPB has asked people not to feed wild birds with bread.
Just don't buy the potatoes, cakes, chips, sausage rolls, meat pies etc then you won't have them in the house.
Supper: Last night, we had two fried eggs and two Birds Eye gluten-free fish fingers each with a small pile of fried onions, as we had run out of mushrooms. Two fish fingers grilled from frozen was 10g carbs.
