i get my car today, so am going to do some recipe searching and do a big shop later. I'm going to be trying to make almond flour pancakes this morning. But i always find i like lots of sweet stuff on top! I dont think i tiny drizzle will hurt, with some cream and maybe coconut cream too
The secret to curbing a sweet tooth is putting enough fat into your diet. People are afraid of fat because so called health experts have been telling us for years that its bad for us, and that isn't true at all. Not one little bit.
So when you fry your pancakes, fry them in coconut oil. Never ever 'cooking oil' as that isn't a fat.
Coconut oil, and lots of it, is good for you and it makes the pancakes taste great.
Then, for a sweet topping, make your own fruit sauce.
Blend up some of your favourite berries or mango perhaps and add a couple of medjool dates.
Dates are natures 'sweets' and are also good for you. Pop in the amount you want. I find 2 is sweet enough, and give it all a good pulsing in a ninja or whatever you use. Although they are good for you, don't eat too many.
You then have a lovely fruity sauce, with no sugar and no carp in it.
Once you replace all cooking oil with natures oils, such as olive oil, coconut oil, lard, tallow etc, and eat enough of it plus add things like avocados to your diet regularly, you will find that after a couple of weeks, you will lose the sweet tooth and cravings will go away. You will also start to feel fuller for longer.
My diet is high high high fat and I've lost nearly a stone in 4 weeks and without counting calories.0 -
Where can you buy coconut flour? Is almond flour just ground almonds?
I use ground almonds in curries to thicken cream sauces, but the Tesco ground almonds are expensive.0 -
If you've got a large Tesco it's worth checking out the 'world foods' or Asian cooking aisles where bulk packets of things like lentils lurk at much cheaper prices. The Assani cashews are also much cheaper in bulk than the ones in the nuts section.
I can buy organic nuts in large quantities online. Wholefood Earth for example do organic cashews for around £8 for 500g
Lots of great health food shops online with organic items that are ethically and responsibly sourced and cheaper than supermarkets.0 -
Morning
I'm so glad to have found you all.
I started LCHF back at the start of Oct 16 and did really well up to the middle of Dec 16. I lost 18lbs - started at 11st 7 and would like to get down to 9st 7.
Christmas came and I was socialising and eating out as well as giving into eating sweet treats!
Luckily Ive only gained back around 3lbs but Im finding it very difficult to get back on the wagon.
I found that this is a way of eating that really suits me. I love cream and cheese and meat and nuts and was more than happy eating like this. I found it so easy and was rarely hungry and cravings left me. The weight just fell off without me feeling that I was putting in any effort.
So, I'm reading all your posts and hoping to find my motivation again.

Thanks PUP.
I am getting less afraid of fat as the days go by, especially as i've eaten loads of it and have lost 4lbs in just over a week.
I'll make a strawberry compote to go with the pancakes instead
I went to a friends house yesterday and ate some bread. Lesson learned- EAT REGULARLY AND PREP FOOD! I hadn't eaten anything all day, so come 4pm i was hungry and ate what was offered.
What do you all eat on the go? When you are out and about?0 -
Hi, only just found this, I have not been on MSE forums for ages, but when I did I often recommended the Dr Clarks Diet, a low carb diet in paperback with lots of recipes and a list of carb values in the back, very simple to follow. It works0

I've used http://www.healthysupplies.co.uk/nuts.html for some years and have been very pleased with the quality. With nuts in particular, you need somewhere that has a good turnover so that you're buying fresh.0

Most nuts sold in the supermarkets are already stale by the time they are sold.0 -

I used to worry that I would be hungry whist out and about. I was a little for the first few weeks and came across some Paleo Bars sold in Aldi. I really wanted to get away from buying any kind of bar but bought a couple of boxes as emergency standby.
I've eaten only 2 bars.
I've found the diet is so good that I am complete satisfied between each meal and I no longer crave anything or feel like nibbling.
But, if I were desperate, I'd probably have a banana or some coconut water.
Coconut water is great for keeping you hydrated and has all the electrolytes you need to keep you going.0 -
