Yes the graph does but it is discussed here.

Although absolute weight loss was greater in the LC diet group, the difference in weight loss between the diet groups was not statistically significant (−3.0 ± 2.0 kg; 95% CI: −7.1 kg, 1.1 kg; P = 0.14; Figure 3). There was also no significant difference between the diet groups in the proportion of subjects who reported a weight loss of ≥5% of body weight (LC: 30 of 33, 91%; LF: 27 of 36, 82%; χ2 = 3.03, P = 0.08) and 10% (LC: 25 of 33, 76%; LF: 21 of 36, 58%; χ2 = 2.352, P = 0.13).

    and here

Consistent with previous studies (5, 29, 30), reductions in FM accounted for most of the weight loss. There was a small, greater reduction in FFM in the LC group, which was no longer significant after changes in FM were controlled for. This, taken together with the fact the FFM:FM ratio remained similar in both groups, which indicated that body-composition changes paralleled those of weight, suggests that greater reductions in FFM in the LC group paralleled the loss of FM. Moreover, the effects of the different diets on body composition are consistent with those of a previous study that compared an LC Atkins diet with a conventional LF diet (3) and with a meta-regression analysis of low- and high-carbohydrate diets (22). These findings support the view that the proportional changes in FM and FFM during weight loss with either diet are similar over the long term.

Low carb causes significant water loss which is why it can appear to be better. Its also a reason why people think they lost like 6lbs in the first week but most is water weight and not fat.

Does it matter? If people are happy doing what they are doing, and losing weight, who cares.

Right and thats fine I have no problem with that. But some people will get stuck and wonder why they are not losing weight. they binge eat or feeling awful all which are common low carb problems.

For your insulin issues low carb is better for sure but for the majority it simply doesn't matter.

It allows people to have more options in what they eat without limiting themselves.

How has everyone fared over the weekend, I had highs and lows, preparing for a decorator, so admit to grabbing some rubbish for quickness.

    Hi Pam.

I finally recovered from the Keto Flu, jumped on the scale and lost 3lbs this week.
I'm starting to get a bit bored with what I'm eating, so been looking on Pinterest for some good ideas.

I also got my period. but experienced no cravings for junk food at all! Amazing for me.
The sugar and carb cravings have started today though. I really fancy a sandwich.

If I start craving carbs, a handful of nuts (cashews, brazils, pecans, not peanuts) or a chunk of cheese generally fill the gap.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thought I'd delurk for a bit :). I started doing the hairy dieter last year and the weight loss was ok. Lost a stone last year. I did Atkins a few years ago and got from a size 20 to 12, but the bread/latte cravings got me and I've had to start again.
This time I started just before Xmas (glutton for punishment) and have mixed up a few books and websites like diet doctors, lowcarbyum and healthyrecipes.com etc.
I've lost 12lbs since Xmas!!! I've been using coconut flour for pancakes at the weekend, scrambled eggs when I have work and lots of avocados for quick lunches.
I am allowing myself 1 small latte a week, when I have uni and that staves off the milky beverage addiction, so I don't crash & burn like last time.
I buy kilo bags of pork scratchings every fortnight for when I need the crunch factor; usually at work, when everyone else is scoffing sweets and crisps in the staff room.

I have to say that I wonder why you (fire blade) are on this thread. It's a support thread for low carbers, not a 'you're doing this all wrong' thread. My blood sugar and cholesterol have dropped amazingly and I'm doing the very strict keto thingamajig. I.e 20 gms or less of carb and my diet is about 75% fat.

GP has checked me out and I'm healthy as an ox. My brain is actually sharper as well. I just need to get rid of the loose skin bits now. Blehh

Try Lidl or Aldi if you have local to you, Lidl recommendations, 1k tubs of Greek yoghurt, about £1-30, Protein rolls on bakery section, about 11g carbs, slice through 5g as 1 is very filling 29p, ground almonds from either store.
