5:2 Diet (part II)

Did my first day yesterday (Monday) - felt hungry for most of the day but got through & actually ended up eating less than 500. Day 2 tomorrow should be better as have 2nd portion of last night's meal made and know I can have a bit more during the day.
OH comes home for 4 weeks on Thursday, having been away for 4 weeks, but says he will eat same basic main meal as me on fast days. Actually hope he will join me as he has more to lose but that is his decision. Have always found it more difficult to track on MFP when he is home probably because he does most of cooking. I am hoping the Hairy Dieter book will be put to good use as we've always enjoyed those recipes even though not dieted as such before.
Went on a bit there sorry but hoping recording it will help.Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

Another fast day for me and I am finding they are getting easier as time goes on. I've been doing this diet for another 9 weeks now and I'm not finding it hard at all. Usually by this point in a diet, I'm thinking of giving up or have already done so!
It 12noon now and I won't be eating till 6pm which will be a microwave meal, some salad and veg and a packet of crisps for my "pudding."
Up to them I will have a couple of Diet Cokes, some fruit teas, and a lot of water.
Just before I go to bed, I have a low cal hot chocolate.
I've lost about 9lb so far which doesn't sound like a lot, but I don't have a lot to lose and I'm not in a rush to lose it, just to feel better about myself.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Pollyanna - well done on the weightloss. Glad to hear it gets easier - 2nd day yesterday was quite difficult, certainly no easier than Monday but I got there. More surprisingly haven't had any chocolate since Sunday!!Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

I've now been doing 5:2 for coming up 2 years () and it's just part of my routine. I fully intend to eat this way for ever and the thought of doing so doesn't worry me at all (as it has with other "diets").
So it should get easier as time goes on ... and don't forget to drink a lot, much more than you'd think you need!Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

I've been doing the diet since late January and now lost 1+1/2 stone and dropped a dress size. I even had a 25 night cruise in that and only put on 3 lbs- probably 'cos I was dancing it nearly all off at night. I am well pleased. I tend to do 4:3 because the weight loss is a teeny bit faster, so more of an incentive. If I am feeling really like a munchie I will eat a couple of dry biscuit thins- whatever is in the cupboard or a few strawberries to relieve the 'Must eat something!' syndrome.
I bought the following 2 books off Amazon before I started:
The Fast Diet by Dr Michael Mosley & Mimi Spencer- had heard him talk about the background & the Horizon programme- includes recipes.
5:2 Good Food Kitchen-by Kate Harrison, packed with recipes. Trouble is most of them seem to use a lot of hot spices which I hate. Again, an interesting book
(Worth every penny- below the cover price)
I try hard not to be too greedy on the normal days because that makes a difference but little indulgences seem to be fine.
For the past couple of months I have been swimming every weekday for at least half an hour and I am sure that has helped. Yesterday I did half a mile in 3/4 hour (backstroke)
Honestly I must have tried nearly every diet going (think Cambridge, F Plan, Grapefruit, Atkins, Dukan.......yes, you get the picture!) and this really works for me
Good luck, it really does get easier as time goes past. I try to stay very busy on the hungry days (like today) and if I'm feeling very tempted go for the telephoneand a chat!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Probably already been mentioned, but try the Hairy Dieters books, there are 3 at the moment with lots of sub 500 calorie recipes covering all different tastes.0 -
Today is my first fast day - wish me luck! I'm at work but not too many meetings so going to hole up in my office and be grumpy. I've got a low fat yogurt ready for breakfast but I'm going to leave it as long as possible before I eat it. Planning half a fresh leek and potato soup for lunch then chicken tikka tonight from a recipe I found on the Women's Own website.
I only need to lose about half a stone, but those last few pounds are always the hardest to shift!1/1/10 total debt £4,311. Debt today £1,0820 -
Me again! I'm having a fast day today instead of yesterday as I wasn't at work yesterday and had to cook for my children (I find it easier when at work and when my mum has to cook for my children, haha).
It's going okay, they don't really bother me any more. I seem to always have a ready meal on fast days which I know some people on this diet don't like, but it works for me that I just don't spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
I lost another 1lb this week which I'm happy with, esp as there was a lot of popcorn consumed last week down to market research and going to the cinema!
So 10lbs in total, another 2lb and I'll be in the next stone bracket!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I found my first fast day quite easy so I'm pleased about that! In fact, I felt just as hungry, if not more, yesterday on a 'normal' day! Tomorrow is my second fast and then weigh day is Friday. I use My Fitness Pal for monitoring my calories and it was NOT happy with me on Monday for eating just under 500 cals!1/1/10 total debt £4,311. Debt today £1,0820

oops slipped off the wagon today- that's what comes of having chocolate in the house! (not anymore I hasten to add... sadly it has been consumed!) However I won't beat myself over the head: no point. generally however I have kept going and weight loss has been slow and steady since January...... intend to keep going too!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
