5:2 Diet (part II)

I too think this is the easiest diet I have tried (and boy, I've tried a fair few!!) I've lost 18 lbs over 4 months and I am well pleased as this period also included nearly 6 weeks of cruising with all that amazing food. Have dropped a size on the bottom half! wish the spare tyre had reduced but I shall carry on.....
I had intended changing the main meal but I find it is just so easy with chick peas (not to mention cheap and filling) that I can just stay on the same thing. I even have half a cheesecake in the fridge and I haven't touched a bite of it today.
I generally find 3:4 is a better deal for me- the weight shifts that bit quicker.
Good luck everyone
Pollyanna you might try this for a main meal:
half med onion, chopped and cooked
half tin tinned toms
half tin rinsed and drained chick peas
d spoon tom puree
50g sliced mushrooms or half sliced carrot
Basically cook onion and mushrooms, add toms. Cook about 5 mins, add chick peas, cook few more mins.
Serve with half small head broccoli & half sliced cucumber.
Its really a plateful and doesn't take that long to cook. The second day you have the tinned goods all ready to go!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

pollyanna24 wrote: »Well I thought I'd join into this lovely thread. Completely new to 5:2, I always tend to do WW, but today was my first fast day and it wasn't toooo bad. Wasn't great either, but people say you get used to it.
Stuck exactly to 500 cals which is quite good (the exact number rather than it being low).
B - Coffee - 26cals
L and S - Two green teas - 4cals
D - Micromeal - 290cals
Crisps - 132cals
S - Low cal hot choc - 38cals
I know a microwave meal isn't the best choice to have, but I don't get in till 6pm and the less time I spend in the kitchen, the better.
I am on week 2. In the past I have done WW successfully but life is so busy at the moment that I need something a bit simpler. I am still using MyfitnessPal to track on the other 3 week days and then relaxing a bit more at weekends.
It was OH's birthday yesterday so I took the day off altogether but back on it today and fasting.
I do breakfast as I have brought my DD (aged 13) up to believe that breakfast is important so I don't want her to see me dropping it now or doing any sort of 'silly' dieting. I don't eat eggs so it is berries and yogurt or porridge for me on fast day mornings.
I have stopped having alcohol on a 'school night'.
I think I have lost 3lbs in the last 10 days of which a week was 5:2. I am now more in the swing of the weighing routine!I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Reached target this morning!! I've been 5:2ing on & off for about 18 months. I must say that my weight has stayed off although the last few pounds have taken a while. I'll continue to maintain as I find it so easy to fit in with RL! Keep up the good work everyone - I'll still be lurking

Just thought I'd update. I'm still on the diet. Today is my 12th fast. I've lost about 7lbs in total. I don't go mad on my non fast days, but I don't count as such.
I don't want my girls to go on silly diets as well, so even though they are young, the fact that I'm on a fasting diet is just not mentioned. I have never really eaten breakfast (I know, bad, but a cup of coffee is all I need) and they see me eating dinner on a fast day. I do tend to just have a microwave meal for about 290 calories and then a packet of crisps and some salad.
And then a low cal hot choc before bed.
I have found this diet quite easy. I do the fasts on my work days, and there is no food to tempt me as I just don't bring any in.
I've also found that it has helped me cut down on drinking (which was something that was needed).
I never drink on a fast day as there's simply not the calories.
I try not to drink on the day before a fast as I did it once and the fast day was a nightmare!! So most of the time, it cuts out 4 days in the week for me to drink.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Hello all you lovely peeps, been lurking on this thread for a while. I've been fiddling around with 5:2 for a few months and keep losing then regaining the same few pounds. I'm completely sold on the concept but obviously need to get a better grip on my eating habits. On FD's I've been skipping breakfast or having a piece of fruit if I get hungry, having a 400-cal lunch, then snacking on rice cakes in the evenings. My problem is probably that I go a bit crazy on non-FD's which is why I need to get a better grip.
Has anyone tried the Fast Diet kitchen? After sampling their soup I've just ordered the 3 week plan and was wondering if anyone here had been using them and what success did you have? I did a search on this thread but couldn't find any mention of it.

I have been doing 5:2 for 5 weeks now and have lost 11 lbs. I am doing a more aggressive version - Fast Beach 5:2 - which limits calories on the other 3 working days too and then I relax at the weekend. The first 3 weeks I lost 3lb each week but the last 2 weekends I think I relaxed a bit too much and only lost 1lb each week. I am at a family wedding in 10 days time so I am back on track till then.
I have also massively cut down on my tea consumption and quadrupled (at least) my water intake.
The Fast Diet kitchen stuff didn't appeal to me - I do breakfast and dinner and I don't want soup for breakfast!! Also my DH is following the plan now and he would not touch that stuff.
We are having a lot of Asian style crunchy salads with chicken or prawns, plus I made up my own butternut risotto last week that went down very well. Chicken Marengo in the slow cooker was another lovely one, served with Cavalo Nero.
I have to take a week off after the wedding as DD is away and DH wants us to have a few nights out as a couple because we can for once. Then I have a week on an all inclusive diving holiday so hopefully the exercise will offset the food a bit. Then it is back on the wagon till I hit target.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I am LOVING this diet. I find it so easy to do.
Today is a fast day. I've only drunk water.
I have had several people ask if I've lost weight, so it's noticable.
Why didn't I do this years ago?!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
