Currently finishing my sixth fast day on the 5:2 - permitted myself to join this thread when I'd proved to myself I'd done 3 weeks.

Finding the fast days simple - I rarely eat breakfast any day and a bowl of home made soup for lunch means I'm not hungry for the rest of the day.

Annoyingly I'm not sure if my scales are off or not as it looks like I've lost a teeny bit of weight, but not much. But I've been pulling my over loose skinny jeans up all evening, so something must have disappeared!

I'm off to SA in December to visit the guy who was our best man. I'll not have seen him for a year and my aim is to have him say "Have you lost weight?" when he sees me - the guy notices nothing, so it'd be a real sign the extra weight has gone!

It's worth measuring yourself as well as weighing - sometimes the scales don't change but your measurements do.

It's also important what you do the other 5 days.... you need to keep a healthy and balanced diet, if you eat too much, you will lose nothing.

Hi everyone, have been doing the 5 2 diet for a few months now and I am really surprisingly enjoying it, and it is much easier than I ever thought it would be.
How often do you weigh yourselves, out of interest?
I weigh myself after each fast day, although I am going to try and limit it to just once a week

I'm not doing it anymore as I reached my goal weight, but I used to weight once a week, after the 2nd fast day.

I'd love to rejoin you if I can...
I fell off the 5:2 wagon last year and am back at my starting point. At 5' 1" I am chunky, again!
Sooo I've had a brace fitted and that's certainly stopped my nibbling, and served as a good opportunity to get back on track I am aiming for for 8kg but i'll settle for 5kg for the summer. I'm on week 3 and my 6th fast day today - I did fast yesterday and am just not hungry today, so i'll fast again today and hopefully slip another in on Thurs. Looks like i've lost 1.2 kg in the last 3 weeks
I have stopped eating carbs in the evening as well (too high in cals and I can often end up eating late) bring on the courgetti spagetti, given up bread (it doesn't seem to agree with me at all) and cut down on the wine ! Weekend only and not too many LOL! I also work away a lot and can struggle to manage my food choices, so finger crossed

Am off on a training jolly on Friday evening/Saturday - overnight in London - company paying the dinner, breakfast and lunch bill. Lunch is a very well catered delicious buffet and pastries available all through the day with the coffee breaks.

It's my only expenses paid jolly of the year - last year I took full advantage and ate more than normal. Friday or Saturday isn't a fast day for me, but wondering how you all cope on your non fast days when there are buffets and delicious stuff all around you. Tips welcome!

Well I have been on the 5-2 for 4 weeks but in fact doing 4-3some weeks with higher amount of cals 650. I have now lost 14 lbs and I am delighted. It is the easiest diet I have ever done.
I have also increased my execise on non diet days, cycling trampeting and some weights like to think this has helped.
I expect my weight loss to begin to slow down in the coming weeks but so far so good.

I've lost 1.5 stones on the 5:2 diet and am now at my target weight. I've always eased up at the weekends, and it doesn't seem to result in any weight gain these days, so if I were you, I'd take advantage of the goodies and then just get straight back onto your normal fast days. What I have noticed recently, is that even half a stone put on during a holiday seems to come off really quickly. I have to agree with others who say that this is the easiest diet I've ever done.

Well I thought I'd join into this lovely thread. Completely new to 5:2, I always tend to do WW, but today was my first fast day and it wasn't toooo bad. Wasn't great either, but people say you get used to it.

Stuck exactly to 500 cals which is quite good (the exact number rather than it being low).

    B - Coffee - 26cals

    L and S - Two green teas - 4cals

    D - Micromeal - 290cals
    Crisps - 132cals

    S - Low cal hot choc - 38cals

I know a microwave meal isn't the best choice to have, but I don't get in till 6pm and the less time I spend in the kitchen, the better.
