Seventh fasting day. Gosh, I'm struggling. The hardest fasting day so far. Not for much longer, though. I'm hoping for earlier night tonight.

Fasting again today. Haven't weighed for a while but my new waistcoat in a smaller size wasn't tight this morning - over a thick shirt and a tshirt.

First fast day of February after falling off the band wagon so to speak. Had this been any other "diet" i'd still be off the band wagon and telling myself i'll start again on Monday.

Eighth fasting day. I think it was more 600 kcal then 500, but I feel nice and full after vegetable soup.
Weight: 76.3kg. Plus 0.3kg from last week :(

Another fasting day. It'll be 600kcal again. Grilled chicken and green beans for tea.
  • Fasting day today. I find I go through phases of eating the same thing for fasting days. At the moment it's a egg and potato salad for lunch and then in the evening I have a bowl of cheesy cauliflower mash. I can't wait until the summer when it's easy just to have a salad for each meal but it's still so cold, I can't get excited for salad!
  • I have found the 5:2 diet the most successful way of losing weight that I've ever tried. I've been doing it for about 7 months and have lost 1.5 stones. I'm now at 9 stone at 5"7 and although I was around 1/2 stone lighter before the age of 40, I feel that my present weight is more sensible at the age of 62. I really like the fact that each fast day doesn't last for ever, rather than trying to cut down calories for 7 days a week. Even when I have a weekend of treating myself with food (and wine!) it doesn't seem to make any difference to my weight. I was really surprised when two weeks of over indulgence over Christmas resulted in only two pounds. Being very routine minded, I eat virtually the same on the fast days, and only have lunch and dinner, making sure that the meals are based around protein. Maybe it's me, but I haven't struggled at all with hunger. I've also been doing Zumba three times a week, even on fast days. I recommend this diet to everyone, but appreciate it doesn't work for everyone.

Just try rosiemumofone... it's very easy and very cheap. You can find hundreds of ideas of what to eat on the fasting days on the web, or just eat wathever you like counting the calories.

Have skimmed through 2014 thread and this current one looking for 5:2 recipe book recommendations. Can anyone point me in right direction?

    Thanks.
