IVe decided to give it a go. Today it's my second fasting day. I had an egg and toast for breakfast, some youghurt and apple for a snack and now I'm having fish fingers with carrots.

It's been said before but for all the new fasters, water is your friend!

You'll be amazed at how much water you usually get from food, you're not getting that when fasting so you need to make sure you drink much more than usual.

It also helps you feel full (somewhat) ;)

My third fasting day . I think it'll be 600 calories rather then 500.

Decided to give the fast lifestyle a go this year after I let my weight creep up to 82kg, when I should be around 70kg

Started my 4th week yesterday and don't feel like i've fallen off the band wagon yet. The thing I like most is that I can allow myself to indulge in a slice of cake of some chocolate without feeling guilty (assuming it's not a fast day). As long as I can survive my 2 fast days each week I do not sweat every calorie every time a piece of food touches my lips and I think that is key. Because usually I try to hold out for as long as possible before ending up binge eating and telling myself i'll start again on Monday.

My only problem with the 5:2 diet is I am drinking a lot more and therefore peeing a lot more too, but I suppose each trip to the bathroom is a little bit of cardio exercise...

First weigh in is on Friday so we'll see what the numbers say then.

I'm on my 3rd week, lost 1.5 kg so quite happy with the results (want to lose 3-5 kg in total as my bmi is not over 25), although I really struggle the fasting days... today is one and I'll do next one tomorrow or Thursday (haven't tried 2 in a row yet..). I had porridge made with water and a bit of milk, 2 eggs for lunch and will have salad for dinner.

My 3rd fast day today - did last Tuesday & Thursday, and this week will be Tuesday & Thursday too. Today's proving much harder than the first two were, feeling very hungry tonight!

  • Hello all

Been lurking on this thread for a while and decided to take the plunge. Week 2 and Fast Day #4 for me (I'm fasting on Mondays & Wednesdays), finding it OK and managing 500-550 calories eating 3 small meals each day. I spend some time at weekends preparing my FD meals (e.g. soups, salad ingredients etc) and freezing any extra. My 2nd FD was a struggle, the hunger pangs started in the afternoon and didn't go away even after I'd eaten my dinner, but I just had a big cup of tea and went to bed ;).

Over on MFP someone said that the 5:2 diet is best because you're not constantly denying yourself, not constantly "hangry" and "you're just one day away from pudding" - hence my sig! :D

    Good luck everyone!

    Good luck everyone!

This is exactly why I decided to give this diet ago.

Just weighed in today and I am down to 79kg from 82kg on 5th January so approximately a 6lb weight loss and that was despite having a bit of a binge on Saturday, but one I didn't feel guilty about as this isn't a 24/7 count every calorie diet.

Aiming to get to 76kg by the end of February now.
