5:2 Diet (part II)

Fairy Lights - the first day is always the hardest as you don't know what to expect & how you will feel. If you have a drink every time you feel 'hungry' it wwill help. Be careful what you are drinking though 'cos milk in drinks counts towards your 500 cals.
Once you have done your first day it gets much easier - in fact I can now go to about 4/5pm without eating & have my 500 cals in one go., but that's not suitable for everyone and the beauty of this 'diet' is that you can tailor it to your own needs & lifestyle.
Do let us know how you get on today - it looks as if you have a 'cunning plan'Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Glad I've just seen this thread as I started this diet last week. Going okay so far, my fast days are Monday and Wednesday (thought Monday was a rubbish day anyway so might as well make it more rubbish!) I don't weigh myself, but my clothes certainly feel looser and my stomach isn't as bloated.
On my non fast days I'm still eating the occasional treat, I have cut fizzy pop and crisps out completely as these are my downfall!
For exercise I'm just adding extra time on walking the dog and walking very briskly, poor old dog can hardly keep up! Also walking for 30 minutes in my lunch break - it all helps.
Will keep my eye on this thread.0 -
Well my first fast day is almost over. My stomach got very growly in the afternoon, but I don't know whether that was because of hunger or the shock of having a couple of stalks of celery to digest!
I got home a bit late tonight so didn't have time to make soup and ended up having two poached eggs on a slice of toast. Quite pleased to discover that an egg is only 66 calories, I thought they were closer to a hundred.
I have felt quite tired today but don't know if that is because of the fast or because I slept badly last night. It hasn't been as hard as I expected and I'm interested to see how I'll feel when I wake up tomorrow.0 -
Well done Fairy Lights!
I've did the 5:2 diet last year for a couple of months and have just gone back on it as I feel so much better. I find it helps me sleep (I usually have problems). My digestive system also feels like it's had a break as well.
I usually buy a salad from a supermarket for lunch and for dinner have a stir fry (zero carb noodles are good but expensive), salad or ready meal (Marcus and Spencer have some that are around the 250 mark).
A belated Congratulations Angry Bear!!
One funny thing i've noticed is that if I smell anything strong (food, smelly candles, cat food, perfume etc) it makes me hangry on a fast day. I have no idea why!! Plus I try and avoid TV adverts when fasting as I can't deal with watching food :rotfl:0 -
Well done fairy, at least you know you can do it now. I find on my fast days I go to bed earlier just in case I get tempted. My downfall is snacking in front of the telly!
Another fast day done, looking forward to eating normally tomorrow and not havi g to count every single calorie!
Good luck everyone.0 -
I fasted Monday and will be doing tomorow as well. Still hovering about 4Lbs over my target weight. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Hi. Yes I still do it, it's forever for meI usually do Mondays and Thursdays - but it doesn't have to be. I generally skip breakfast, have homemade soup for lunch (I use my fitness pal to work out the calls, but a straightforward veg soup is 100-130 cals); or a salad If I need something portable.Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

Fast day today - I find if I keep busy I don't think about food. Only had drinks so far & I'll go to Yoga tonight & then have a tin of sardines on toast with a smidgeon of cheese all toasted under the grill when I get in.
I find that the sardines are such a strong flavour that they satisfy me completely!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Morning everyone..
New to the thread, but I've decided to give this a go as I want to lose a few Ibs
I bought the zoodle chef last week, and I've been making noodles with courgettes - they're amazingly tasty!
I've also made sweet potato crisps to snack on.
Anyway first day today of fasting, wish me luck..:)0
