    Hi everyone.

Don't like to read and run but am snowed under with paperwork again this evening. Thankfully by this time next week it should all be done!

So, just a quick post with today's menu, which was green:

    B: 2 x alpen light (hexb1)
    L: Aldi Cupshot chicken flavour
D: Chicken (hexb2) stir fry, sauce (2 syns), mushroom, onion, peppers, broccoli, 2 x prawn crackers (1/2 syn??)

Hex a is milk in drinks. Loads of syns left for this evening, so can treat myself if I ever get this work finished!

    Welcome 32b3in2013, I'm new too :):)

Can someone tell me if I've got this right please? On a Red day, potatoes can only be counted as a healthy extra if they are baked or new? If they were mashed they would need to be counted as syns?

So my rambling question is what ready meals are low syns that I grab from a supermarket?

    thanks
    xx

Hopefully MrsR will be along soon. She's an expert on easily cooked meals with low syns.

Yes, I checked and they have to be eaten with skins. I'm guessing it's to do with the fibre content.

To whoever asked about gravy, it's hard to know as there are so many ways of making it but have a minimum and hope for the best! Gravy powder and cornflour is 1 syn per teaspoon each if that helps.

    Welcome 32b3 :hello:

So I've kept to plan so far today :j:j
    B - banana
    L - rice and chicken
T - chilli, jacket potato, cheese (hea) butternut squash, big salad, pickles
    S - crisps (4) 2 ryvita crunch (heb) philly choc (4) muller

OH has gone to fetch himself some cookies  so I've asked him to get me some chocolate philly so I can have that on the ryvita and feel like i'm eating cookies :rotfl:

    Hi everyone.

maman, I hadn't thought of a wedding outfit! Oh my! I don't think there will be a lot of time, they mentioned less than a year - well they have been together for 8years and have 2 children! I'm scared now!

Mrs C, fab loss - I think I need to follow your plans and get some more willpower!

    Review of Wednesday's plan
Breakfast: grapefruit & hexb toast & butter (3)
Lunch: butternut squash soup (unless the squash has gone mouldy waiting!)
Dinner: beanburger & salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion), Hartley's 10 jelly
Snacks: SF caramel treat (4.5), banana, grapes & 2 hexa mini babybel light slice plain white bread & Jam (8)
    Total: 15.5
Probably will have 1 more hexa mini babybel light and a can of diet irn bru for supper.

    Thursday's plan
    Breakfast:banana & yogurt
Lunch: (this is where it all goes wrong, but I've saved hexas and hexbs for it) out with my daughter
    Dinner: spiced pork & rice

    Good luck all.

Hope you don't mind if I ask a few Slimming World n00b questions...

Are people on this thread going to meetings or doing it online? I can't decide whether to join an actual group or do it online. Anyone recommend one over the other?

Also, how does SW compare to WW? I'm more used to low calorie dieting eating things like baked potato, cottage cheese, vegetable based soups and Slim Fast type drinks etc. How would these foods fit into either plan? I find I can only lose weight if I ditch "treats" completely and I've been told by a friend that WW wouldn't suit me re: their brand bars and things. Plus that sounds expensive.

Hope you don't mind the questions, thanks in advance for any replies.

    Someone mention my name? ;)
I like the Tesco Healthy living range. Favourite is the salmon and broccoli pie. However the LowLow range of ready meals (from Asda I think) are quite low syn. Co-op do a few as well. I don't eat as many now as I used to- I'm starting to cook and experiment :) I also love peppered Quorn steaks for a quick meal. They're free :) I like them with rice and/or veg :)

  • Thanks Mrs Ryan :) Tescos is my local so I did pick up a couple of the healthy living meals just so I could eat something this week so good to know they are fairly low synned

How do I work out the syns in them? xx

There's a whole mixture of people on here doing SW at groups, online or going it alone with books. In general I think the feeling is that a group is best (at least until you get the hang of it) and online seems only suitable if you really have difficulty getting to a group. The foods you describe would fit in fine but probably not the Slimfast. SW is designed as a long term Healthy Eating plan so it's not realistic to go without treats. I think the theory is that if you want a quick fix then you'll probably lose by cutting down, eating the sort of meals you describe and having some Slimfast substitutes and no treats. The problem with that is that you might put the weight back on afterwards. SW is designed to be sustainable long term. HTH.

We can look them up for you online. Let us know which meals you chose. The salmon & broccoli is 2 syns.
