I agree csarina, why would anybody not insure their home and its contents? I've always had insurance, ever since I was on quite a low income, and never claimed on it... but the peace of mind is worth the expense.

I have had contents insurance for 40 odd years, have only claimed 3 times, once when 1st OH put his hand through the french windows and bled all over a new silk shirt and dining room carpet. When I dropped my digital camera and broke the screen amd when my OH ran over his glasses in the car (silly idiot left them on the roof and they fell off as he was reversing the car):D :D

I down graded it when we moved in here as we had shed such a lot of furniture and equipment, so it went down from just over £100 per annum.....

OH OH I forgot we had a kitchen fire, the cooker burst into flames, that was a very big claim, had to have all the curtains and carpets cleaned, and a new cooker, the assessor was a woman of the Hitler ilk...........left me without a cooker for over a week and 4 children in the house (5 if you include then OH), I had to go cap in hand to the bank manager and get an overdraft to buy a new cooker......eventually we had a cheque for over £1000.

Feeling a bit up and down today!

Feeling abit undermined at work with a manager about 400 miles away thinking im not experienced enough to do something, he was nice enough about it but grading is everything in this place!

Anxious about going to Edinburgh tomorrow, its my bf going to see his son and im nervous about the driving distance and weather conditions and also the fact that this will be very emotional for him and kind of hard for me too as though ive never met him and wont be tomorrow, this will be so close and real. Afterwards im hoping our plans go smoothly and we can still stay at the hotel we booked without problems.

Mega stressful at the moment, I need to cleep when I get home and get up to go driving at about half 11 tonight, I dont even know the way yet to where my bf stays!

    Hugs!!!

    Afternoon All

    Happy Anniversary Kyle
    Roz_v congrats on the 2:1
    Arlybarly - welcome.

Wet start here this morning but now sunny and a lovely drying breeze that would have been perfect had I put the washing machine on before I went out!

Dropped ds at school then went into another village to run some errands. Found a gift shop with everything 50% off and bought DD a lovely winnie the pooh writing set for her birthday. She loves Pooh but we tend to wait until we go to Florida to get stuff as its so nice out then and cheap. After posting this will go and get the rest of her pressies - sims games and dvd's so will go through quidco- have already got her main present from ebay - I love the internet.

Had a posh coffee and stocked up on stuff in superdrug. Now back home and have no motivation to do anything so will spend the next hour on here then will hoover and wash the kitchen floor. I did manage to clean the hob and tiles in the kitchen before I went out.

Horrible forcast for the weekend and its the school fete Sunday, the last couple of years when its been on the weather has been so hot - will have to go whatever the weather to show support.

DS has footie tonight and DD is at a sleepover, wil get fish and chips on the way home from football so no cooking today!!!

    Have a great day.

Edited to say - well done Jockett. I need to lose a stone and have been terrible over the last few week's - need to get my bum in gear and your weightloss is an inspiration.

    Morning everyone!

Jocket Congratulations on your fabulous weight loss. Good luck with the next stone.
Tru It's not just the cals, it's the type of cals. When your body stops receiving fat it goes into famine mode. Just allow yourself some cals from fat and your body will assume everything is OK and the weightloss shoudl continue.
    arlybarly hello and welcome

Gosh, so much rain! I really thought it was going to be a good day when I woke up to blue sky, but not so.

Last night we started work on siting the water feature, did yet more soil removal and levelling. This morning we took a boot load of soil to the tip, and there will be more when we've dug out a hole for the reservoir. Progress is slow because of the rain, so I'm not sure how long it'll be before we are actually sitting on the new seating area.

We have selected the landscaping material though, and we're going to redo our exiating patio to match, and also redo the path (currently slate chippings) in the same material. We need to do a scale plan to work out the laying pattern though, as it will be a combination of "plain" slabs and these decorative cobble slab things. We can then get the materials ordered, but I don't see us getting to that for some time.

I went out to dinner last night and was very unwell at 5am. I still feel really queasy, but strangely its alternating with feeling really hungry! I couldn't face anything earlier, I might try some toast in a moment.

We're supposed to be going to a 45th wedding anniversary bash tonight. This couple have invited us to all their birthday and anniversary parties for years, and each time I've been out of the country working. This is the first time I've been here, and I really really need to go. I might try and sleep this off later.

Hope you all have a good day.

Housework all done, carpets hoovered, everywhere dusted, kitchen floor cleaned with a Brillo pad and a cloth...........mind you it is only 4' x 6' and half of it is covered with a rug..........so..............treat time, off to see my friend for some girly gossip and try and sort out her computer.............we always have a cream cake with our tea.......ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhuuuush don't tell OH or he will want one too.............

TV is off the wall at the moment, put it on to watch a programme and all I got was coverage of the incident in London this morning...........it does drive me mad when they go on and on repeating what has happened. O.K. I know that if the thing had gone off there would have been mayhem but you have to draw the line somewhere..................

Right rant over..............I am off to try and posh myself up (means putting a skirt/dress on and makeup) and buzz of out..................cherrio..........

Oh please send me some of your energy! How do you manage? It's 1pm, and I've just done some admin, one wash, walked PK to vets to pick up his worming treatment, watered the greenhouse at the lottie.... and the day is already half over! Now have to face forest in the kitchen and somehow make rest of house look vaguely habitable or at least how OH left it yesterday morning! Can't wash pots because I have plants all over the spare counter tops....:rotfl:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Back from dentist, i have another abcess Ouch! More root canal treatment to come and also back on anti-biotics as well as heavy duty painkillers for this and the work that was done today 2hrs 10 mins in the chair but the rest of the appointments will be shorter from now on thank goodness.

DD got into work ok, she is just round the corner from where the bomb was, in the middle of theatre land! she is like I was at her age though and won't let the b*******s stop her from getting on with her life. I was just the same when working in London during the IRA campaign in the 70's and her Nana the same getting in to work during the Blitz! Guess that's what makes us unique here in Britain! We won't let them beat us down! Doesn't stop the sick feeling of worry though.
Csarina i have missed most of the coverage due to being at the dentist all morning but am grateful for it being covered so I can find out what is going on as am obviously very worried about dd.

I had to wait for 1/2 hour for my prescripton to be ready so to take my mind of things DH took me to our oxfam charity shop and I did well in a short time ;) a bag of 5 good quality steel christmas cookie cutters for 69p, 3 aqua glass tea light holders, a portmeirion botanic garden tea cosy, and a couple of handles for when I make up those shopping bags and all for £6.

Meals today will be soup for lunch - tomato with grated cheese in, eggs and spaghetti hoops for my dinner and leftover chilli and pasta for DH.

    Catz x

Someone is coming to look at the house tomorrow afternoon.

Just had a phone call to ask if someone else could see the house at 10 a.m. tomorrow - as i need time to tidy up etc I just said we would be out then and to negotiate another time instead!

Nobody so far has even got their house on the market so I will not be holding my breath.

Might make sweet potato soup for tea if I can get off the computer - lol!

DD enjoyed her leavers ball and another DD(21) is back at her uni flat for a while.

Hugs to pennypincher and I hope that things work out for you with the stair lift and with your health.
