I personally think that there are too many quick to judge on here.
So the OP has done some exercise listed in the lose weight thread.
She's already stated she uses specialist equipment to do so. I can go upstairs without any problem. Gotta come down them on my rear end, but I can go up!!! And remember that exercise listed was probably over a week or a couple of weeks, I used to join that thread too and took part in some of the challenges, it wasn't a daily thing, but posted them either weekly or monthly. My exercise bike is part of my physio, and even if it's half a mile a day, it's still exercise and would have counted towards said challenge. And even if I'd to count how many times I need to go upstairs to the loo every day it would have counted towards said challenge.
I don't claim DLA/PIP as I don't feel I'm quite there yet, and doing all I can to keep myself as mobile as possible, whether that's on my exercise bike, strengthening exercises, or even going up the stairs and down on my backside, I'll continue to do so as long as I can(daily). And just because I can force myself to do these things, even if it does leave me in pain, doesn't mean I'm able to work. I've worked all my life, and would love nothing better than to get back to work.
I wouldn't say the OP is ashamed or embarrassed, but peed off about the judgmental posts on here. Exercise is often part of treatment, do we now slate people for trying to help themselves? (Pst I can also walk briskly to my car when I have all my braces on) Only about 50m. Think you all have to remember that the said exercise was over a period of time, not all in one day

Well I know you not a doctor thats for sure.
In cases of where people have diffilculty walking, I know first hand the #1 thing advised is to walk as much as possible.
and all the people lining up to thank you on your posts, too quick to judge people.
I did go to med school and proud of it :j
...and for other people disabilities too much exercise is as bad as not enough such as mine.
Although you don't have to have been to med school to realise that the most appropriate exercise for someone with severe balance problems and who gets dizzy is probably not climbing the stairs !Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

tbh, though, had the poster detailed the level of exercise undertaken, on their DLA form, there's a very strong possibility they would not receive DLA.
I have difficulty walking, to the point where there are days I can't actually walk at all and the #1 thing advised to me, was not to walk as much as possible.
Your posts arent credible, I am struggling to accept you for what you say.
Modern healthcare is a strong advocate of exercise, unless exercise is clearly going to break a frail body generally exercise will be advised.0 -
Exercise is advised, yes. But not to the extent the OP is talking about.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Gosh you really don't pull any punches.. I know personally I have been extremely offended by some of your comments. Especially this dodgy "medical advice" you spew belowIn cases of where people have diffilculty walking, I know first hand the #1 thing advised is to walk as much as possible..
NOT TRUE for all people with walking difficulties .....Graded exercise as a therapy regime was extremely harmful for me personally. You can't lump all disabled people into one heading and I think you will see on the forum rules that medical advice is against forum rules.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Whatever the ins and outs of medical advice, it seems to me that if someone has this level of movement, an assessor would think, understandably, that getting a job was feasible.
Of course, that doesn't mean that there are enough jobs around, but that's a different subject.

Yes, exercise is recommended, but you specifically said someone with walking difficulties is advised to walk as much as possible, with it being the #1 piece of advice.
That is what I queried. Not exercise in general. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
I agree that there's far too much judgement and presumption on here. People have out and out accused OP of calculated benefit fraud - with no proof or justification that I can see, having read all the posts/links - and seem to have eagerly sought to do so! Hasn't a mod. seen this thread? Surely this is not seen as ok or encouraged by MSE!*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

People have advice and opinions on these forums, no one is abusing the OP so why would the MODS remove or lock the thread, people are just finding it hard to believe that someone who seems by their own admissions to undertake such a high level of excersise to loose weight (no mention of it to aid illness/disability) can claim to be as disabled as the OP does.
I myself agree with them and also find it hard to understand that someone that suffers from this condition that apparently is excabated by sea travel, actually travels by sea every year as well as undertakes a seemingly high level of physical excerise and yet claims that movement etc can deem her bedridden for lengthy periods.
With regards to searching through and commenting on old posts if it was against forum rules or thought unexceptable then surely MSE would remove the function.0
