Not at all. I happen to care more about the welfare of the sick and disabled too. But - I'm not willing to condemn someone to starvation regardless of their behaviour. If people are too lazy to get a job - well to be honest they are condemning themselves to a life of poverty. Fair enough. But ill never agree to allowing someone to starve to death.

The other thing to consider is why someone is long term unemployed. You can't assume it's because they are lazy and idle

My brother has been unemployed for TEN years. He works so hard to get a job. Has never been threatened with any sanctions. Goes to the job centre every day it's open (has no money for internet access at home - or indeed a computer). So why is he unemployed? Because he has a criminal record. He has done his time and kept his nose clean but cannot get a job. He isn't idle - far from it. So what would you like to happen to cases like his?

I can read quite well thanks - and I know precisely what you are saying. Let's not try the "treating other posters as thick game."

You are suggesting that people who are lazy and idle should be left to starve. I disagree with you. And I brought my brother up as an example of someone who is long term unemployed but not idle - just in case you assume all long term unemployed are the same as the OP (many people do) - who I agree is utterly unemployable by the way he acts! But who is he hurting really? Only himself. Your taxes aren't suddenly going to reduce because he is allowed to die in the gutter you know - so what the heck? Leave him to his lifetime of poverty and give the jobs to people who do want to work - my brother and AP007 for example.

It's not poverty, is it. Accommodation, food, healthcare all provided for. That is not poverty.

No. Dont think you can get away with that. You twisted my reasoning for your own ends. I've done nothing wrong other than disagree that someone should be left to die in what I thought was a civilised society.

GG - just do the placement - surely it's better than doing nothing. And you might get something out of it if you put some effort in.

I did not twist your reasoning. There is limited resources, you wish to give some of the those resources to the completely undeserving compared to cancer sufferers who are dying due to a lack of resources.

If you don't like your own reasoning, change it, don't blame others.
