I start a Work Placement

I think Red Devil is on a wind up! Either that or he has lead a very sheltered life!0

what about cooking, shopping, ironing, everything else, you cannot be expected to work on your placement all day and then jobsearch all evening.
Nobody works that long hours?
yes you can do a bit of jobseeking.
Well some people work 12 hours a day.... my girlfriend does 16+ hour shifts (plus sleep ins). She also finds time to job search as she is wanting to change profession.
You can work 9-5, job search and do all household chores. Heck if I can do that, pretty much anybody can (can even have an hour or two of relaxation).0 -
Last job I had, I often worked 14 hours a day - and my home, at the time, consisted of another 4 adults (none of whom thought housework was down to them!), and various assorted animals.
I did manage, the house was clean, and every man and beast was fed, watered, ironed for and washed for, but it's not much of a life, and exhaustion creeps in, to be honest.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

Lin – that is very admirable, but it says something about the other four adults, that they didn’t think about helping out with the housework and cooking. They must have been very selfish!0 -
And he claims he wants a job - if he really did then he would be doing whatever it takes to get one rather than moaning about missing Emerdale or whatever he likes to do in the evening.
If earlier threads are anything to go by, you really really do not want to know what GG does in his evenings.0 -
right so he isnt allowed a life in the evening, he hasnt got anything else to do, even though he is at work all the time.
as he said if he is out 9-5 why should he jobseek every evening and weekend as well. They want blood.
Hes only out 9-5 because hes on this placement. Otherwise not
I dont actually know how things differ from the last time I signed on.
Ive been off JSA since 2012 and was on it for just over 6 months and another 9 month spell around 18 months previously
In my area the first time I was job hunting they were stricter, you had to evidence everything you were doing, after you were unemployed 6 months you went onto weekly signing for a time
The next time I went to sign on, my adviser basically didnt need to see every rejection letter, just my diary of what I was doing. They actually understood that a lot of people were chasing the jobs that were out there, all they wanted to see was some effort
Given that Ive signed on a couple of times over a 25 year period, I have met a couple of jobsworths in my time, but on the whole, the advisers I had were more than helpful to me.
When I signed off around 4 years back to teach fitness classes freelance, they gave me support and advice on how to claim a self employed credit. I couldnt fault them.
I do know in the two years since I signed off that things have probably changed and possibly for the worse for many people, however, I cant say anything negative about the adviser I had the last time I signed on or the one I had before that.
I know some people are overzealous jobsworths, I worked with young people on benefit for the best part of 15 years and did see some people who were in crisis not treated very well.
But to make sweeping statements about every single person who works for the DWP isnt accurate and isnt helpful. There are a lot of job centres who try and help people back to work.
Ive also jobhunted after working 35-40 hours weeks. Its called real life.0 -

Well, my kids, through age and having their own places, have learnt her reality of life, and I divorced my husband lol

Probably a good thing, because he is talking absolute twaddle
The reality is that at any given time, there are not enough job, but the longer you look, the higher the chances of getting a job if everything else is equal. Maybe you might understand that if someone plays the local lottery every single day for months, they are statistically more likely to end up with a winning ticket by month 10 than someone who just played for the first time at that time. Unless of course, the first player only ticks 5 numbers instead of 5 and then he will continue to play and fail to win.0 -
And on that day unemployed people will genuinely have a reason to say that their destiny is no longer in their own hands.
Until then, though, there are hundreds of thousands of jobs available, employers crying out for good staff and, at exactly the same time, a small proportion of the unemployed who simply do not want to fill those roles.
Though it's true that there's an over supply of labour in this country!0 -
Just got a letter from Learn Direct Employability in the post provided by Job Centre, I start a work placement on 18.02.2014 at Open Door furniture Recycling, Burnley at 9.30am!
I have no idea why I have been put on this, I already did a placement with them a few years ago. also it states on the letter that if I don't attended then I will get my Job seekers stopped/sanctioned as its mandatory.
Will I be able to refuse doing this if I tell my advisor on Friday when I sign on since I already did a placement with them a few years ago?
I don't mind another work placement but don't fancy working for Open Door again plus its on my CV.:(
Not intending to be condescending but it certainly wouldn't hurt for you to consider improving your grammar!0
