And this attitude ladies and gentleman proves why GG has been out of work for so long...

Employers don't want to employ people with a "can't" attitude who constantly find reasons not to do things or overcome problems.

They do want to employ people who find ways to work around obstacles, such as simply applying for jobs during the evening or weekend when you're unavailable dutring the day!

right so he isnt allowed a life in the evening, he hasnt got anything else to do, even though he is at work all the time.

as he said if he is out 9-5 why should he jobseek every evening and weekend as well. They want blood.

Why not? Its what people in full time employment have to do when they need to find new work (due to wanting to move on, impending redundancy and so on). This is the situation I am in and all my weekends and evenings are geered towards job hunting.

How much is it to read through a paper on the way home from his placement to look at available jobs? A search of the internet when at home and sending out CV's. Surely if you're in a work placement and want to secure something permanent you would be looking as much and as hard as you can.

Job seeking is not just a 9-5 job you know :-)

And he claims he wants a job - if he really did then he would be doing whatever it takes to get one rather than moaning about missing Emerdale or whatever he likes to do in the evening.

Not the last time I looked, but thanks for your concern. And I would consider job seeking a higher priority than vacuuming, particularly if I were someone in GGs position (or indeed yours)

This seems to be yet another thread that highlights the differing attitudes of posters looking for jobs. There seem to be a couple who regularly post that will do anything to reduce the [STRIKE]risk[/STRIKE] chances of them getting a job.

As I posted earlier, it's what I had to do when I knew I was being made redundant and that was whilst working 12hr shifts, sometimes 7 days a week.

My highest, indeed only priority, was to find a new job ASAP.

what about cooking, shopping, ironing, everything else, you cannot be expected to work on your placement all day and then jobsearch all evening.

    Nobody works that long hours?

yes you can do a bit of jobseeking.
