I did not twist your reasoning. There is limited resources, you wish to give some of the those resources to the completely undeserving compared to cancer sufferers who are dying due to a lack of resources.
If you don't like your own reasoning, change it, don't blame others.
Out of interest is everybody on JSA "completely undeserving"?
If so I'd draw you to contribution based JSA that is only available to folk who've paid enough NI stamps the previous two years and only claimable for six months.
I guess you don't mean them, they're OK? Right? What about people unemployed for about a year? What if they've been made redundant and are struggling to get a job with the theory being their age is being used against them? They're OK? Yeah?
So really only the long term unemployed are "completely undeserving"? You mean that? Hell, they must be scroungers and cheating the system? There's absolutely no reason to be unemployed that long, yeah?
The thing is the bill for the DWP is 167 billion, the biggest department of all. How much of that goes to JSA? Less than 5 billion, spent on 1.5 million unemployed and claiming JSA. (using 2011/12 figures)
EDIT- I tried to post a link but the board won't let me due to my status- Google "amount spent on benefits" and it's the first Guardian link.
In the grand scheme what is five billion? Nothing. But remember some of that is on contribution based, Some of it is on poor Dave, made redundant and late 50s who we don't mind. It's only the long term unemployed who are "completely undeserving", right?
They account for about a third. Or 1.6 billion. In the grand scheme, what is 1.6 billion? A total, tiny insignificance.
For the record, yes, cancer treatment is worthy. However more is spent on treatment and research than on JSA. Out of interest, people who have lung cancer because they smoke, problems with their liver because they drink to excess, developed issues because they're obese- "they're completely undeserving" of the money spent on the NHS and cancer treatment, yeah?
Finally, what demographic do you think has the highest rate of uncurable cancer, largely because it's diagnosed late? I'll give you a clue- the exact same folk you're demonising because they don't have access or seek treatment earlier.0 -

Fgs sake dont be so dramatic and silly.
Nothing dramatic about wanting a decent life rather than settling for a pointless existence. Or at least that's how I see it for myself. Not saying everyone should see it that way.
And yes - I can make the assumption that Twisted Cherry is more employable than you because they are making much more of an effort, have a much better attitude and don't have a chip the size of a tree on their shoulder0 -
I think I would rather slit my throat than settle for being long term unemployed. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Charity shops are whete people go who have been ordered by the courts to do community payback. Putting a jobseeker in there amongst someone with a criminal record is not right.
The two are not comparable.
In terms of employability, petty criminals and the long term unemployed are highly comparable.0
