  • Thank you for all the supportive and informative posts!

Cats I fear I may have to do the same with my coat soon! Still squeezing into my size 10 :) but hoping to get another couple of weeks out of it!

I had to call into work sick today :( I felt utter pathetic not managing in over this stupid cold! I'm glad I did though, I'm feeling quite a bit better and well rested now

Finally getting around to posting. Isla Scarlett was born at 41+2 on 6th January at 4.44am, weighing 9lb 5oz.

The labour was long, I started getting pains at 10.30pm on 4th Jan and finally went into hospital at tea time on 5th January. I was completely traumatised afterwards, we wasn't expecting such a big baby, the growth scan we had just a few weeks before put her at 6lb 4oz so it was a big shock. It's true what they say though, you really do forget about it all afterwards.

I was completely unprepared for all the emotions after birth. I am so in love with my girl but I desperately miss the anticipation and looking at bump photos totally breaks my heart. And this is coming from someone who spent the last 9 months moaning! I really hope this stops soon, I can't bare it!

  • Congratulations Tinks! What a lovely name :) hope you are both doing well xx

I've reduced down to 3 days a week now to use annual leave before my mat leave starts! Been lovely having an extra couple of days to get things down :)

Had a visit to maternity assessment on Friday night though with reduced movement from our wee bundle. I just didn't feel that it was as active as it had been so they asked me to go in for a couple of hours to monitor us. All was fine so was happy to get home but it really was very worrying!!!

Hope everyone is keeping well xxx

  • Hope all was ok for you cats?

I don't know if it was just my emotions running away with me but I wasn't massively impressed with the midwives that dealt with us. They showed me to a bed and left us there for 25 mins (there were only 2 other beds occupied) and when they appeared back she kept saying "first baby is it?" As if to make out I was being paranoid! Then after I was rigged up to the monitors, she gave me a button to click everyone the baby moved. Which of course it started having a party and she came back and said "feeling more movement now are we?"

She had everything all signed off but felt like she never explained any of their findings and I was sent packing with "all is fine but give us a call if you're worried again". I was exhausted by that point and just wanted to go home.

Hope it's not like hat for the labour!

Yeah all was fine. My experience was a bit better as she did take a while to wake up so sorry you had to experience that :-(

Agree though that I don't have anything to show for it - I was on the monitor for over an hour and all I have is a note saying all fine!

Congratulations Tinks, glad to hear your little lady has arrived! :). Although slightly freaking out that I'm nearly top of the due list now, haha! Hope your emotions settle down a bit soon, it's all a bit of a rollercoaster in the early weeks.

Saw the midwife this morning. She thinks the baby's had a growth spurt, bump measurement has gone from just over 50th centile 2 weeks ago to just under 90th. Have another growth scan booked for next week anyway, so will see if she's right.
