  • Beckyy we are enjoying them, and actually learning things which is always good :) My only grumble is they go on quite late so we get home late, but it would be a struggle to get there if they started earlier! Everyone on our course seems lovely, so hopefully there is a social aspect that continues once we finish next week.

  • HUGE congratulations ThinkPink fingers crossed you get home soon and can get settled with your little man :happylove

Nothing much happening here except being knackered all the time and very round! :rotfl: Got the day off work today and need to get some bits done around the house but have no energy to get off the sofa so we'll see how that goes! I worked out that I finish for maternity leave 6 weeks on Friday which doesn't sound like very long away to me! Struggling with working full time now though, they frown on afternoon naps which is a real shame!
  • Hi all, I'm back again (told you that I was not very good at regular posting).

Thank you for the advice about the nappies I have held off the bulk buying. So I am 31 weeks tomorrow and boy is it flying now. I've had GTT which was vile, but I'm not diabetic. Also been having growth scans due to my bmi and unfortunately baby is weighing just under the 10th centile line on my growth chart so I have to keep going back every 2 weeks. Its nice to get these extra chances to see baby but I'm so paranoid that we are going to accidently see the sex as we don't want to know what we are having.

Hubby has painted the nursery and we are in the process of sorting through all the stuff that ppl have given us and getting everything set up. Also bought pushchair and car seat (on offer in mothercare) but not picking it up until next month. I am a bit superstitious about having things that we have bought in the house just yet - hubby thinks I'm being stupid.

    Hope you are all well?

  • Well it's looking possible that we may be able to have the builders finished by the end of this week - I hope!

The main problem was the floor in the extension - despite numerous attempts they just can't get it smooth and level.

So made an agreement with them - they provide me with the materials I need to finish it, knock some money off the price for labour - and I basically sort the floor out myself.

So they just have to sort out the drainage situation, then they can go. Otherwise it'll just drag on forever and we both want them gone!

  • Congrats ThinkPink. Sorry to hear about the emergency c section. Hope you recover quickly and get home soon.

Ruby I've got less than 8 weeks and they're not full weeks. Work haven't started looking for my cover yet  luckily my hours are flexible so I can go home if I really need too. Not sure I'd be working till so late in to the pregnancy if I had a long commute.

Mrs_rachel we're having extra scans too as ours is measuring under the 5th percentile. The consultant said she isn't concerned as long as she continues on the same line. Will be asking her next week if we can still use the birthing centre/pool. So fingers crossed it's a yes.

Hope the builders are gone by the end of the week Freddie and you get the floor sorted.

We've been doing NCT too. I've found it really interesting and useful. We've already got a lunch booked in for the ladies in the class so that's nice.

Anyone have any heartburn remedies? Only so much milk and Gaviscon I can have!

Justme, I think eating very little and often is meant to help, having 4/5 smaller meals a day rather than 3 normal sized ones. It might be worth trying yogurt/yogurt drinks instead of milk if it's a bit boring and I vaguely remember reading ginger can be helpful though unsure of the science behind it. I don't know if any of them actually help but maybe worth a try :)

Justme1985 tge advice is eat small meals, not too late, avoid spicy foods, caffeine and chocolate, and drink milk or eat yoghurt, milkshake or ice cream. Take lots of gaviscon/rennies and sleep propped up on your left side (definitely not your right). If you are still suffering then please don't worry about getting a prescription off your GP as loads of women do. I've had a month on prescription medicines for acid during both of my pregnancies, earlier on in them and there are safe options.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
  • Thanks Beckyy and Kynthia will give your advice a go and if that doesn't help I will go to the doctors.

I do try to make sure I don't eat too late. I think the issue is between coming home from work and waiting for DH to get back to have dinner so will have to have a small snack then. DH thinks it gets worse then because there is nothing in my stomach for the acid to attack!

Not sure I am down with cutting out chocolate but can definitely deal with my more milkshakes (been having them the last couple of nights any way) and ice cream. :rotfl:

I rarely go more than a couple of hours without eating something lately!

Aldi have a baby/toddler event on. I'm not sure if items are in store yet but they're available online to pre-order, and there is free delivery at the moment. I might get some of the disposable changing mats they have, some of the changing units in public toilets look a bit grim so it'd be handy to have a couple in the changing bag I think.
  • That's a good idea Beckyy!

I bought a pack of onesies last time they had an event, but they have washed really badly and the legs are ridiculously short - I would give them a miss. The muslins have washed up ok though!
