My experience is obviously a bit different and contributed to me giving up breastfeeding, but I did 5 days and gave up at 3am as I just couldn't get the latch right, even with the help of a specialist who came to my house twice.

I don't regret it, they're fed and happy (and sleep through the night!) so I can't complain.

If you do formula feed, get a perfect prep machine, they will save your life!

Our girls are coming on leaps and bounds. They've finally noticed each other, the conversations they have are amazing!

Lol, if I formula feed, me and oh have already said we will get a perfect prep. I was impressed when oh mentioned it, apparently one of the blokes at his work said they are a must if baby is bottle fed so oh is on board with getting one.

    Oh that's so cute lulu.

Wow, that was a bargain. I've read that when asda do their baby events they can be picked up for a bargain price, so I'm hoping that they have an event soon.

Our antenatal team advise against perfect prep, I haven't looked in to it but apparently they don't boil the water?

They recommend boiling the water because it's the powder that needs sterilising, not the actual water?

  • I have a perfect prep Lulu ready and waiting for when we switch to formula! :D I can't get DD's latch right, have been seen by loads of people and thats only with one baby to try and latch! Glad they are doing so well :D I can't believe they are so old, I'd just joined this thread when you had them!! Time flies :(
  • DH was on about the perfect prep the other day as his friend told him they had got it... I'd rather buy a pump first to try BF. Going to see if I can get both second hand though so we don't lose as much money if we don't use and resell them.

I've been pricing up flights to the in-laws at Christmas time, and am shocked to find the airline we use charges £22 per flight for the infant to sit on your lap! It's almost the same price as our seats. If it was a longer flight then I would just book the seat but it's not worth it for an hour flight with a 6 week old baby!

You can often loan electric pumps for two week time slots. Ask your health visitor and they'll arrange it. They say it's to let people try them before they decide if they want to buy one. Our health visitor told us about it when she was around. But we already bought one. She said they sterilise them fully and give you everything that you just throw away when you're done with it. It's not a thing local to here, I've heard of people loaning them all over.
