Hi All
View we're lucky enough to be getting a tour of the unit during our antenatal classes but were also told that we could ring and arrange a tour at a time that suited us. My hubby doesn't drive either but we are a 10 minute walk from the hospital so I'm not too worried. I will also be induced between 38-39 weeks due to going onto insulin but haven't been told anything else at this stage as it only happened on Tuesday. I'm sorry I'm not more helpful lol the only knowledge I have is from OBEM and they probably do things differently in each hospital anyway.
Re Birth Plans - my plan is to go with whatever is recommended as I'm classed as high risk I know that I can't be in the birthing suites but I'd prepared myself for that anyway. There's already a pain relief plan in place for me and hubby and I have both decided that we're happy with whatever has to happen is done as it's going to be the best decision for both of us and saves hubby from having to make any tough decisions as he's terrible for even deciding what's for tea lol.
AFM first week off work, full of a cold, ended up on insulin, had a bit of bleeding last night but after too much exertion so have just kept an eye on it and she's been moving fine anyway, couldn't sleep very well as can't breathe properly and just feel poo. Might have a nap later and hubby has ordered me to rest and do nothing other than watch movies or play on the ps3 bless him.
Hugs to anyone in pain, I do know the feeling of hip pain and it is the worst especially when trying to get comfortable enough to sleep.DEBTS ARE BEING DEALT WITH AS BEST WE CAN:heart: Married my prince on 27/08/2011Baby Girl born 21/10/14:D:D:D:D

Hi everyone,
Could I join you all?
I'm currently expecting my second baby and have been lurking a while and looking at your discussions which I can relate to so much! I already have a 19 month old daughter and am lucky enough to be a SAHM at the moment.
I can relate to a non-driving DH! Mine doesn't drive either and we live a 30-40 minute drive from the hospital I'm giving birth at. My mum has offered to take us but I'm envisioning being in labour in the car for that length time - where I gave birth the first time was a 10 minute drive and that was enough for me  I'm just going to cross that bridge when the time comes.
Off to add myself to the list

view - obviously I was at a different hospital to yourself but my experience was as followed.
I was induced because I also wasn't allowed to go overdue due to my age.
I went into an antenatal ward (4 beds) where the induction process started. during the day once they'd monitored me after inserting the pessary I was allowed to get up and walk around the hospital grounds as long as I was back in time for the regular monitoring. Nobody worried about having men around as at my hospital the only people allowed in the antenatal ward were birthing partners, and there were curtains round the beds for when you needed privacy. Nothing really kicked off by 9pm so my hubby had to go home so I could sleep, and would have been rung if I went into labour overnight. If labour had been established by 9pm he would have been allowed to stay. In your situation I'd been considering saving a little money so that a taxi could be used if hubby had to return in the middle of the night, but that's your choice.
He returned the following morning, and we continued with the induction process. My waters were broken at 3pm ish, and I was moved straight away to my own delivery room.
Once Little Miss LT arrived and we'd had some time together, she arrived at 9pm & hubby left about 2am, I was given time for a shower or bath, and was then taken down to the post natal ward with the other mums.
At our hospital they don't keep the new mum's with the ladies about to become mums.
I hope that this helps you and offers some consolation.0 -
Well been pin cushion today. Anti-d and whooping cough plus blood tests. Felt really ill at work so had to come home, not sure if it was a reaction or because I saw the anti-d needle. I didn't realise she was going to do it and it was rather large lol. It didn't hurt much though, very mild sting. Whooping cough hurt more and I have a sore arm now. Anyone else feel sick and faint after the jabs?
Welcome b girl. I too have a similar drive. Quite scared about that too.
Sorry can't help re induction. I know my oh was kicked out about 2am after the birth. Once I was showered and we both had some skin to skin.0 -
Welcome b_girl
Thanks for the details about your hospital experience Lemon Tree - I was also wondering about how things tend to work. Fortunately my OH drives but we are a fair drive away from our hopsital of choice.
Oh mr_knight I have my jabs to look forward tooI don't know anything about and Anti-d one, does everyone get this one? I have heard that pepole find the whooping cough one a bit painful and can have a few ill effects after- very similar to what you described. Hope you feel better soon.
Listen to your hubby alioops78 - you need to keep your strength up so plenty of rest sounds a good idea to me!0 -
Shorty Anti-d is only if you are rhesus negative blood group. If your midwife hasn't mentioned it I would assume you don't need one0

Welcome b_girl. Hope you enjoy bring on the big girls thread!
Can't offer any advice re induction, sorry.
AFM......guess where I've been again today? Yip back in the ward for a ctg and another scan. I kinda feel like the boy that cried wolf as every time I've been everything's been fine and I feel like I'm wasting their time but yesterday there was very little movement and today between waking at 0540 and phoning mw at 9 there was nothing at all.
I'm still only measuring 33w from the outside but on scan everything was spot on at 37w.No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
