I want to punch those women in that video in the mouth!!!! Lol
Yes to say it's been a very trying year is an understatement and it isn't over yet! I can't see next year being much easier but here's hoping it is. At least I won't have a pregnancy to go through next year, just the trials and tribulations of being a parent for myself! No longer ...tobe! Get well soon freebiequeenie.
:rotfl:lailap for a moment I thought I'd given birth and forgotten! Yes her little 7 week old was lovely. My own LO though was most unimpressed by a strange baby's weight on his ceiling (my belly) and gave it a good go to kick him off. Chip off the old block I am afraid to say

lilmissreading wrote: »Sorry yes, I second the tonic water. Lazy Daisy suggests having your OH use a nice moisturiser to do some lymphatic drainage. You use your hands to stroke your outstretched legs up from the ankle to the thigh (I had a quick look on youtube but couldn't see what I meant). Also to jiggle your legs when that's done. Calf stretches can help. Also to use two hands to shake your thighs from side to side. Not sure if there is evidence the lymphatic drainage would necessarily help but I believe it does. The worst that happens is you get a nice leg massage!
Also my nausea was always strongly associated with fatigue and there's no doubt I got steadily more tired in the 3rd trimester without realising it. Plus the lack of space with baby taking up more room. Plus indigestion. Plus low blood sugar - if it always on the morning see if you can get hold of ginger flapjacks. I find these psychologically and physically work for me. I believe the ginger might work on both levels and if you make them yourself with proper oats they are lower GI and the slow release can do you a world of good.
Good luck!
Ah finally a use for the OH!!! I shall propose a leg massage.
I have actually been thinking that I might like to try baking as I think it will be something to do with the LO when they are older. I have never baked a cake in my life so maybe ginger flapjacks might be a good way to start- I'll google a recipe
Been having a few weird dreams myself- although I don't know what I am having I have been convinced that I am having a little boy and address the baby as him. Recently I have had several dreams in which I have a daughter, which just confuses my female intuition. The dreams can be a bit heavy going tho- certainly the insecurities of being a good parent spring up in them quite a lot.
Hope you feel better soon freebiequennie
Lots of new challenges next year MrsC....tobe. I'm sure it will be as eventful but as you say hopefully not as trying.
Have a good evening all0 -

Despite being from a brand site, I don't think there are any other makers of golden syrup! I reckon if easier you could substitute powdered ginger if you have it for the fresh. Otherwise grated ginger freezes well. You can substitute any dried fruit or put chocolate in instead! It will still work without the lemons if you don't have them to hand at any point. I have no idea if the different oats are important. I just buy value ones for porridge and use the same in flapjack. Tastes ok.
I like flapjacks as they are measure, melt, stir, bake, eat. I was at my friend's house by just gone 10am with my freshly made this morning flapjackmuch less fiddle than cakes with their beating, folding, whipping, separating etc

Believe it or not Tesco do their own golden syrup! I think other supermarkets do too.
So much to catch up on but I've been rubbish lately. I have no excuse as I'm just sitting around the house now due to SPD but somehow I seem to spend all my time reading or watching rubbish on telly with only my phone within reach, and MSE isn't very user friendly on my phone.
Mrs C - I know what you mean about it making the relationship stronger. We have really been through the wars ourselves. For ages I wanted a baby and DH didn't, he wanted to want one but just couldn't make himself if you see what I mean. I knew I couldn't force him and he knew I'd never be happy without one and we were on the verge of splitting but neither could leave the other.
Then eventually he did come round and we started trying, only to find out that his sperm count was incredibly low with poor motility/everything else, and were told it was ICSI or nothing. I struggled very badly with this, couldn't get my head around it at all, and got extremely depressed. Meanwhile both of his siblings popped out babies with very little effort and lots of workmates and friends did the same. I know he found this very hard and suggested a few times that I should leave him, but I wouldn't even entertain the idea. It was one thing when he wouldn't give me a baby, but another thing when he couldn't through no fault of his own. It was a very very dark time.
When we had our surprise BFP when we were just about to go on the IVF list, it was a massive shock but the best one ever, and he's been extremely supportive through my months of total exhaustion where I couldn't do anything and now the SPD where I can't really walk, and I honestly do think we are stronger than we ever have been. I don't know what I'd do without him.0 -

Thanks for this lilmissreading- I've told OH I will be making some at the weekend.....he loves flapjacks so he will no doubt have his eye on a pinching a few of them!
Hope the SPD isn't too bad angeltreats- Best thing to do is get some rest and spend some time relaxing and doing very little. It's often easier said than done so it's good you are getting a chance to rest a bit.
3 calendar months today for me- which still seems like a long time- this pregnancy has gone slowly for me but i'm thinking (hoping) it will now pick up a bit of pace, especially as I have few more appointments coming up.0 -

Two calendar months for me as of today. Just saw the midwife and my next appointment is at 34 weeks, she wants me to have a rough birth plan done by then. Really not long to go now at all :eek:0 -
Angeltreats, glad things all worked out in the end. I have a friend who had similar to you, and even during the investigations and stuff when they put sperm and egg in together they rejected each other and the sperm went the opposite way. She was gutted.
I don't see her too often so it was only after I fb announced ours that I found out that she was pregnant and she had her baby a couple of months ago. I still need to catch up with her to find out what happened in the end but I know after everything they went through she now feels complete.
And another friend who kindly gave us her pram was due to start IVF, I clearly remember getting a text from her one August and all it said was 'got letter for IVF, not going, baby due March'. I've never been so pleased for anyone ever!!!

Hi All,
Sorry for being AWOL ladies,
Work and journey to and back to work is making me tired. I am going to bed as soon as I reach home very often.
Have started my antenatal classes attended 2nd week yesterday very informational and have a good group of other couples also. I am currently 28 weeks and have my growth scan this Friday and Whooping cough vac on Wednesday next week. Any effects after this vaccine ladies ?
Anyhow just noticed yesterday Kiddicare are offering Quinny Buzz 3 for £250 (£175 off ) ordered mine yesterday. go to their website if anyone else is interested.
All the best to everyone.Saving goal for BTL mortgage - 28600 / 60000 ( July 2021) , 37600/60000 (December 2021) , 39300 / 60000 (august 2022) , 41000/60000 ( January 2023)0 -
I was the same Love Actually at this stage in terms of being exhausted after work (although not in the same way as first trimester/early 2nd).
I'm impressed. I didn't get any classes until in the 30s weeks.
I had an aching arm for a few hours after the jab but better by the morning.
Angeltreats - lucky you! I am having a home birth, so far there has no discussion of whether my home is appropriate or the birth plan. I next see the GP on Monday at bang on 38 weeks at the surgery (going to write down questions) and my next mw appointment after that is after my due date at 40+4 at 8am at the children's centre which has been squeezed in so I see my regular mw. I have had it mostly written for weeks now. Ah well.
BTW if you weren't on here when skintchick posted her birth plan and it would be helpful, I can post mine which is largely based on ideas from hers? Just knowing what you don't want is as helpful as knowing what you do I think!
that makes sense about golden syrup own brands. I wonder why I only have branded - not like me.
Sorry to hear about the SPD.
My goodness what a hell of a journey to get here.
Had our couples workshop last night which was helpful although it went on till 10pm and poor DH was exhausted - he's such a legend. Said the bit he was most looking forward to was skin to skinthe only contribution to the hospital bag is old button shirts so he can do this easily so i know it's true by virtue of being the only thing he's organised in that area!
