  • Superfood salad:

Mix up cooked quinoa with a teaspoon of harissa paste (or to taste), a prepared pomegranate, diced feta cheese, diced red, orange or yellow peppers and some finely chopped parsley. Serve with a green salad (spinach, rocket and watercress is my personal favourite).

    Lovely!
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

    Hi,

I ended up making this Fresco Quinoa salad recipe from UKTV food website. It is very nice and I would recommend it: -

  • I really like it! Usually have it mixed with three bean salad and a tin of mackerel. Might sound bizarre but it's pretty tasty

When you put into mince to bulk it out, do you just rinse well and add to meat and cook for 10-15 mins?

Also are you aware of it in the mince or is it like lentils and oats and justs 'mushes' in? Sorry couldn't think of a better word/description.
Don't put it down, put it away - thanks Valli

ASDA have started to sell it in the organic section at a very good price. It was about £1.50 (cannot remember exact figure). A lot cheaper than Holland and Barrat and Julian Graves.

EDIT: Just found this recipe. Looks nice: -

I finally got round to trying a quinoa recipe today. Am determined not to throw it away!

THe selected recipe was called 'Keen and Creamy Quinoa-Mushroom soup with shiitake 'noodles'. From a book called The Grains Cookbook by Bert Greene. It's a very interesting book with lots of background information about lots of different grains.

I didn't put in the rum. I didn't do the shiitake mushrooms. I used turkey stock instead of beef. It tasted pretty much like my bog-standard mushroom soup, maybe slightly more grainy in texture, though I'm always generous with the mushrooms, so it's always fairly bitty.

THere are some more recipes in the book for Quinoa, bot sure if there's anything I fancy yet, will have a look. Then there's the millet...

Have a bag of quinoa in the cupboard. Never used it before, was going to use it instead of rice. Has anyone got anything more interesting to do with it?
    Thanks!
