Thanks pink-winged, will have a look.
And yes it is all Gillian McKeith's fault I have a bag of this stuff, thought I better use it now!

  • It's good stuff...apart from anything else it's a vegan source of omega 3 etc.

I like to roast some veg and mix it into cooked quinoa with a spoonful of pesto :)

I make a soup/stew with it with it using up any leftovers so my amounts aren't very precise I'm afraid.
I would use maybe 1/2 a bag for 3 people and cook that with 1/3 to 1/2 as much in lentils. They take about the same time to cook.
While they are simmering fry an onion some garlic, a chopped courgette or 2, a chopped pepper a couple of finely chopped carrots and anything else you might have.
Stir in a tin of tomatoes, some stock(I always use Marigold bouillon), herbs and spices your choice but I use cumin, chilli, coriander, cinnamon and cardamom.
When the lentils and quinoa are cooked stir them in and adjust seasoning as necessary and liquids depending on whether you want a soup or a stew.
If you have some fresh coriander that goes well too.
It looks horribly complicated like that but is very adaptable to whatever you have and never fails to work out well for me.

I ususally just use it instead of rice as it does make a change, although I have used it in other things like chilli and soup.

Throw it in the bin. Whilst my views on wasting food are well known on this site, I am prepared to make an exception for this stuff. I know that it is supposed to be ever so good for you, but it has all the taste appeal of frog spawn.

Rant over. I feel so much better now. Nurse!

I used it once, a recipe with a bright green, garlicky, herby, pea-based puree which you stirred into the grains.... I just went hunting for the recipe and I can't find it and now it's going to bug the hell out of me... are ya happy now? :rotfl:
