You are most definatly not!
I use it instead of rice with chilli which covers up the lack of taste nicely. I've seen it in ready meals as part of a casserole, not tried that myself yet0 -
I make a very nice cous cous and quinoa salad thing,
Cook a quarter of a cup of quinoa and 100g of cous cous according to the instructions on the packets then let them cool.
Chop up about 100g (about half of a packet from Tescos) of Beetroot.
Mix the beetroot, cous cous and quinoa together. Slosh in some red wine vinegar and squirt in some honey. Stir and then taste it to see fi you need to add more vinegar or honey. Then taa daa!
Sorry the intructions are a bit vague! It'll keep in the fridge for a good few days as well! :-) I hope that helps!Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
The way I cook it is :
1 cup quinoa,
2 cups water
Put in a pan and boil until the water is all gone. Take off the cooker.
Straight away after the water is gone put a lid on the pad and leave for at least 10 minites then take off the lid and stir it around to fluff it up.
It will keep in a tupperware type container in the fridge for a few days.
(you can make more eg 2 cups quinoa/4 cups water etc)0 -
I get mine from the co-op - SUMA brand organic and its £1.29 for 500g.0

I get mine in my local greengrocers. It's with the other grains and pulses.
I boil it and simply grate some parmesan on for an easy, quick snack for my toddler.
I like it in casseroles instead of barley or potatoes or with a tomato and veg pasta sauce, just mixed in instead of pasta.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
if you lightly toast the quinoa first then it gives it more flavour - use a dry frying pan and heat it until it browns then cook as normal - I think it needs flavour even then but it's an interesting texture
goji berries can be eaten dried and are quite nice like that - they're lovely on porridge though too or in smoothies as they soften with the liquid so are a completely different texture. If you put them in with your breakfast cereal then they'll soften too it doesn't take much liquid. I think that in China where they're from they don't eat them they just make a tea from them and use that for therapeutic purposes.0
