Here is a recipe which works well. It is important to let the mixture stand in order to thicken up - this way works better than carrying on cooking which will still result in a rather liquid mixture. Any fruit could be used - perhaps your goji berries - or it can be left out.

You know when you buy something in a fit of enthusiasm?

I got the quinoa a while ago, thinking I should give it a try. Now need to present it to the family in a delicious way so that they will eat it again..... I haven't tried it, but imagine that I will like it. DD is a vegetarian, so suggestions without meat as well would be good.

Is it the sort of thing you put into other things, or served as an accompaniment?

    Hi purpleivy,

There's an older thread that should give you some ideas so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

If I'm doing a curry i'll make a mixture of basmati and quinoa to go with it, so we are getting the protein and goodness of the quinoa with the rice texture we're used to. It cooks about the same time as basmati rice so I just put them in the pan together. If I have other interesting grains about (wild rice, carmargue red rice etc) I'll chuck in a bit of that too, then there is an interesting (and pretty) selection of grains together.

Any leftovers can be used to make stuffed peppers.

I bought a pack from Tesco and a dish using it with beans is on my menu plan.

I know how it SHOULD be pronounced, but until I was enlightened I called in kwinoah and still do!

    Hi all,

I have found a big packet of Quinoa in my cupboard that I bought about a year ago because Jillian McKeith said so. I have never used it yet and was wondering if anybody has any nice recipe's ?

    Thanks

Thanks for the link to the quinoa thread - I'm off to read it. I've used both quinoa (little gritty bits!!) and the flakes. I really recommend them for anyone whose kids are about to go off to uni this year - get them used to it and teach tme how to cook it. My DS made curried quinoa pilaf for his flatmates (10 or so in uni accommodation) the night they all arrived in first yearbiggrin.gif. It is high in protein and low in cost
