Had to laugh, OH says to me on Saturday "we'll have to be careful with the grocery shopping this month we were over budget last month". 'Oh' says I 'What is our budget' "175" he says. I nearly choked as when he comes with me bill is around 70 - 80 each week. Saturday I went on my own - £36 !!!

    Typical man

I've had a nightmare - made the fatal mistake of going to Makro on Sunday and spent far too much - £146.19 on grocery type items and another £200 on other stuff! Still, I should be able to make the Grocery Challenge and it will make next month's 10% drop quite a bit easier... and I have managed to save a bit already this month by coming in under budget for individual shops, IYSWIM?

And on a very positive note, £100 of the £200 was spent on a steam generator iron, which I absolutely adore - I did more ironing yesterday than I've done on the past 3 months!!

I am so glad you like yours, I've ordered a Russell Hobbs one on special offer from £129.99 to 49.99 so I hope it works as well as yours. Should be here by the weekend. Am saving any ironing til then!

Hi everyone. Did £16.55 yestreday on bits like bread, some ham, youghurts, spare ice lolly moulds and a selection box of biccies for the nurses as a thanks you for looking after DS (and "oops" a box fell in for us an evening treat when DS goes to bed of a night)

Might go down to the market later armed with £10 to top up on more fruit and veg, but the month starts again on 19th (Thursday) so that really should be it for this month. If I get out later I'll repost and update my sig again. As it is I'll update sig now with £16.55

In our house we have me, DH, DS(12), DS(18m) and DD(6m). Oldest DS is always hungry and the littlies are both in nappies, with DD needing formula milk too.

You have to set you budget against what's comfortable for you - if you can afford £295 then there's nothing wrong with spending £295!

Having said that - there's no harm in challenging yourself a little, either... ;)

What sort of things have you been doing so far to try and reduce your grocery bill?

  • well went this morning to asda and i was really good honest.

bill was really high (about £80) but i had got my ds school clothes as if i leave it till getting back they would of run out as that always happens to me and i got DH 2 pairs of shorts and a tshirt for holiday.

Got all the holiday food i need to go away.

and the last items i needed for this week. Adsa over charged me grrrr but did take my coupons for once. I phoned them when i got home and have my name in the book for refund when i get back.

so officially spent £4.24 - £2.50 vouchers = £1.74 for this week which make me under budget JUST for this month woo hoo.

hope you all have a lovely few weeks will see you in august xx
    Still Trying :o
