Well, just back from Weymouth after three horrendous days. Buried our Sister-in Law (ovarian cancer) and put her Husband into a Community hospital (lung cancer). At the moment I don't know whether I'm coming or going, but I'm still keeping an eye on my spending.
Good luck to everybody. Sorry to be so gloomy,0 -
Mike, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister in law and her husband.

Been shopping today and have enough food to last me all week (i hope) so bar nipping to the shops in the week I *should* come in under budget
. Meals all planned so am hopeful will have to see how we go. If so it will be my first £10 into my savings pot and I will be chuffed to bits.

mikeD sorry to hear about what you've been through over the last few days, how awful. Thinking about you and your family at this terrible time.
Well I've spent over half my budget and still got half my month left, not good. Saying that there is a LOT in I just need to sort through it and invent some creative meal plans, easier said than done sometimes.
I was hoping next week to have drained the freezer stocks down enough to do a meat shop for over the hols at the farm shop, but this might wait until later in the month/next month. Suppose it is a good sign that we have a lot in really. Not as if it's far away and I can pre order what I need. I'm more thinking if I go there for next months meat I'll dip into it and never use up what we have loads of. Maybe it's time for a storecupboard challenge. Considering the freezer space is one under bench and the freezer side of my american one, ok there is bread etc in there to use up aswell but they're both packed to the door.sorry wafflig aren't I
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
lil_me~ waffle away! i dont mind,as long as you listen to my ramblings later inthe month when i am panicking about my budget
im sure if you stick to using up all your freezer stuff you will be fine.i know what you mean though when you get new stuff in its hard to stock rotate.
shelvis~ good luck with the last leg of your budget fingers crossed for you.0 -
I'm having a sort of mini-storecupboard challenge for the rest of this month as I have spent nearly all my july budget in the first 2 weeks
I have loads of stuff in the cupboard and veggies in the garden so I shouldnt need to buy anything; I have £8 left of my july budget so may treat myself to a litre of proper milk next week as I dont like dried milk in tea. Thought I was being pretty good but just found I've run out of bread so BM on in the morning!
Well done to you who are on budget, and commiserations to those who are spendthrifts like me :rotfl:... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Things going well. Have £19 left from my budget of £160 with lots of meals in freezer and tins in cupboard. I made a list of all storecupboard food, kitchen freezer and small freezer in garage and was amazed at how much food I have. Large turkey in outside freezer which will need to be cooked. This was present for Christmas from Mr.Beutiful who my husband works for. Will have a roast then freeze rest for stir frys and curries. Forget it was there. I am still amazed how easy it to cut down on spending. Cleaned my kitchen sink yesterday with vinegar and just stood admiring it. Afraid o/h may think I am becoming a bore so must get a life.:T0
