  • Thanks. Both predators (three debts) I have settled with up to now have said that the balance is to be written off. I have a letter from each of them saying the account, though partially paid, has settled the account and the accounts are to be closed. It has to be marked as 'partially settled' on the credit file as the full amount has not been paid.

  • So, I'm still waiting on two predators to get back to me to say whether my offer of p and f has been accepted. i can't do anything else with any of the other three until I know what's happening with the outstanding two. It's not nice hanging for all this time...

I know the feeling HB......I went through the same thing. I wanted to formulate a good plan but I couldn't because I was waiting on responses from the ones I most wanted to kill before moving on to some more 'benign' ones :( !!

In the end it worked well. I sent formal complaints to Trowel & Wuscot as it had taken them two months (one the owner, one the collector .) I believe my bitter complaints were what got a settlement of 24% (76% discount) on my biggest debt.

I am sure your friends will be worth waiting on too HB :D !!

  • Quick update on the £200 challenge. I've got £90 left, £6 per day till payday. I've also decided to start overpaying the mortgage with what I save on the food bill, so have updated the SO accordingly. Can't believe I'm actually looking forward to overpaying! How times change!

  • Still waiting for responses from the two predators re p and f! I know they said it may take up to four weeks, but really, they are spinning it out.
Ten days to payday and I have £60 left.
Not wanting to be a party pooper, but I have decided to give up alcohol in the hope of getting healthy. Haven't started the keep fit regime yet, but, hey, one thing at a time.
A little win on the premium bonds is going into the emergency savings pot too today.
So, things are plodding along OK. Just need to get those p and f sorted!

  • Just wanted to drop by and say hi. I have been really inspired by your diary, and seeing how far you've come since you first started it. Whilst reading I have researched pensions (something I'd not really thought of before) and really considered what I'm spending my money on, and if that can be reevaluated to pay off my debts faster, so thank-you! And good luck with the rest of your journey.

  • Thanks dotty and turfy. I'm determined to get these debts gone! Well, finally a positive reponse from one of the predators! A whopping settlement for 36% of total. I'm well chuffed with that. I'm more than halfway through getting debt mountain sorted! Yay! I'm now into the 20 thousands. Result!
Overspent on the spends before payday, though due to seeing friends and family. Not too far over though, so I will pull it back next month.
So pleased to have knocked one more predator off the list. And a big one too! I'm now down to four! :)
