  • Ok. I've calmed down a bit now. This was still with the recoveries dept of the original lender, so I am over the moon to have got such a great settlement offer. Let's see how the others go. But for now I have had a massive boost. There WILL be an end to the debt pile! Yay! :)

Great news HB, onwards and downwards :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Refusal of payment offer from PRA. Never mind. I will continue to pay them the agreed monthly small amount. Hope I haven't rattled their cage though, with the offer.

    Hi HB,

PRAT are offering me 65% ie. 35% discount. I tried before to take them lower but.......no  !!

They seem to wheel and deal but not at bargain basement level like some :( !!

  • Yes, I can see that, Brogden. I shall just keep paying them small amounts for the time being. I will settle with the ones who are more amenable. How are your debt payments going? Did you manage to get them all gone?

Good luck with your full and final offers. But why is one of them being settled as a partial settlement? That means that some other DCA can come after you for the other part at a later date. It isn't usually a good idea to accept partials

  • Hi Chevalier, they said that it has to be marked on the credit file as a partial settlement because the whole amount owing has not been paid but that it will be regarded as being a final settlement. They are a reputable name, so I believe them. They are putting it in writing and I will settle with them as soon as I have the letter.

I have a few of these that are marked as 'partial settlement' on the credit file.......that's why we should call it a 'Partial and Final (P&F) :rotfl:!!

They will all disappear altogether six years from the original default but I just don't care aboout these :D !!

No, HB.....I haven't paid off all my debts but it just may be I will in the next few months. I am redundant, phasing into self-employment and trying to work out the best thing on all fronts. It does increasingly seem attractive to bite the bullet and be debt free - I then have to concentrate on fewer things going forward and it would be the end of a chapter :) !!
