ok, so now everyone wants me to start a new degree? What would everyone suggest I change to? I'll just add another £9,000 onto my debt and add another year until I can go and get a job. lol.

Yes, it's a saturated market. It needs to be, 80%+ of the websites out there are so awful they literally hurt my eyes. I am more than willing to work hard and I love what I do. I figured it's about time I did something I wanted to for a change and I also thought that I might do better in a field I enjoyed and one where I wouldn't have to pay for childcare, because I could stay at home with the kids during the holidays and pick them up from school. Giving them a proper home life and all that. Of course, I could always go and do something else. Answers on a postcard...

TBH I might set up a budgeting service!!

You are right load of rubbish stuff out there even major web sites done for $$$$$ companies.

The hard part is finding the jobs that want good people that pay well....

Networking is the key to this...

AngelPie78, Ive read and posted in your other thread on the DFW board but just to answer your origional question (and appolgies if someone has put thus befor) but have you looked at http://www.thinkmoney.co.uk/
This is the nearest I can think of to a personal budgeting service

Personally, I would really think very long and hard befor using them simply because they charge a fee for their service, money which is better in your bank than theirs and they are far from Money Saving.
If you feel you really need some help perhaps they can be a "very" short term solution.

In an ideal world, getting on top of your finances yourself is the best option but im sure you know that ;)

Hmm...try Money Dashboard instead. They offer aggregated overviews of all your accounts and allow you to set up detailed budgets going forward.

  • I've applied for a thinkmoney account as I feel that I need the control and "help" of something else to get me back on track. I tend to overspend when the kids are off and when I'm bored, so was thinking to keep them until September and then open a student account :)

will look into Money Dashboard though. Thanks x

Just remember wtih Think Money, get out as soon as you dont need it any more so you dont keep paying their fee.

Your short term problem appears to me to be a case of cash flow with so many different dates when money comes in and different dates for mony going out.
Once you have this under control everything will seam much clearer.
If you follow the advice on the DFW board thread by LittleMissGiggles123 you should have the short term problem sorted fairly quickly.

Tbh, OP, I do not know what you're expecting. Do you think that by posting on here, someone is going to magically appear and tell you that they'll pay your rent for you?

There does seem to be an issue with a lot of posters whereby they think that there muust be a solution, and that people are being spiteful by not giving them the easy, simple way out of their problems.

As others have pointed out, the OP does not have a short--term problem, she has a long term serious issue, that's eventually manifested itself in the here and now, and no short-term solution exists.

OP, if you have no money for your rent, and want to pay it, you will need to sell things, or earn the money. I'd suggest doing both, starting now.

And equally there does seem to be a problem with posters on here trying to "help" by trying to solve problem that is not the one the OP has asked for help with.

If you take the time to read through all seven pages of my thread, you will notice that I have never said I don't have a long term problem or have any issues addressing these. However, the problem that I wanted help with was for someone to help me solve my short term problem of trying to pay my rent and immediate bills.

Maybe there should be a rule on people who want to have an opinion, on reading the whole thread beforethey post and thus they might actually help with the actual problem. Not the one they think they should be helping with.

What do you suppose I should sell? My kids? I've already said I can sell any old clothes I have, but my house is fully furnished and I don't even own a bed. I've agreed to sell my car and possibly the holiday I booked. None of this can be done over night and make enough money to pay the rent for March and April.

I also do not know what kids of job I can do, that I can start immediately and work around my children and studying full time without having another breakdown.

But then again, if you had bothered to read the whole of this thread, and the one I posted on DFW, then maybe you would know all this and can keep your [already suggested] opinions to yourself as they don't really help me at all - do they?

And yes, I do think you were being spiteful and having a dig. Like the majority of people on this forum, in my personal experience.

But then again, maybe I am an alcoholic [as has previously been suggested??] or do you want to throw in another insult as well??

I have read the entire thread, and the one on DFW.

The problem is that there simply isn't a short-term fix for your short-term problem. Therefore people have tried to offer help on your long-term problem.

The bit I've put in bold stood out for me.

This is precisely the point. Absolutely nothing you can do is going to happen or help overnight. You're up sh*t creek without a paddle.

Since you don't want any help on your long-term problem, there's nothing more I can say so I'll just continue to read the thread with interest.

No doubt you'll come back and say "why bother posting if you can't offer any help" and I'm not exactly sure what you expect anyone to say.

Have you tried to see if the money tree in your back garden has started to flower yet?

But I've have LOADS of advice.

"Make a budget and stick to it" is essentially what it comes down to when anyone gives you advice.

Surely, if the "stick to it" part of that doesn't work then you need more help?!

I've made countless budgets. I have enough money coming in, IF I don't overspend.

I overspend, something unexpected comes up, we eat out when we shouldn't, the car brakes, one of the dogs is ill etc etc... I have NO saving, I can't save. Money burns a hole in my pocket. It always has done and I don't feel strong enough to just "not spend"...

    Anyway, thanks for your help.

Then you have just identified your real problem. It isn't advice or information you are short on - its self control. Unfortunately, there is not much that others can do to help with that. If you know what you should be doing and don't do it others are not going to be able to save you from the consequences of your own decisions.

Hopefully, you will have your LBM one day and things will change.
  • Having just spent an hour or so reading through this thread how just like to point the OP towards a budgeting software program called YNAB. Whilst this is not a free program there are plenty of instructional videos and help guides on how to create your own budget and how to manage that budget.

The software has a free demo 34 days which I've used and found very interesting. I haven't bought the full software yet simply down to cash flow problem will feature. OP why not take a look, view some of the videos and see if that helps. All the best!
