AngelPie78 wrote: »I really don't understand what you are saying [sorry]. I want to start making changes as of today. From now, I want to only spend money on the things I have and need to. This SOA, as far as I am concerned, is completely do-able from June.
However, I need to know what I'm going to do for the next three months to be able to make it wholly accurate and I don't know what I'm doing for the next three months. This is what I came on to get help with. I don't know what to spend my money on and I still haven't been given this help. A poster earlier on in the thread started helping me and then she didn't reply when I asked for further help.
I can put the £10,000 on from the house but I don't know if and when I'll ever get it [as i said, it's with the solicitors]. I don't see the point of putting it on there as it makes my situation look a lot better than it is/might be.
Does that make any sense?
Will need another look at the SOA(on the other thread), but in the short term somewhere is going short.
Your equity in the house makes it worse as it does not cover the debts.
Even when you get the £10k you are still stuck with unaffordable debts.
How much real equity is there in the house, how realistic is it this money will realise what are the time scales?
.............
You have to realise people work with the info they have, so give them some slack, no one can make you money from nothing which is the immediate problem
how you got where you are is not that relevant
how you get out is you need to plan...
You say this is a SOA that works, so work out who gets paid when the cash flow you have if you need help post the details(on DFW).
Without that in detail I am not sure anyone on here or there can help.
At the end of the day you make your trade offs and no one cares they just offer the alternatives based on the given information to try and get you back on track.
.............
I was thinking about the original question is there anyone that does this sort of budget help, not that I know but anyway
The legal ramifications are unknown and would need investigating especially with debt no one wants that liability by helping.
For that sort of service I would expect,
To set up the budget(assuming you have ALL the information to hand).
1 day (8hr, £200 min)
1/2 day a month maintenance(£100 min) with the cash hand out for the month.
extra every time you go off budget outside the monthly 1/2 day, £20ph min 1 hr min
all +expenses.
The problem will be your idea of the budget will not match your chosen controller(I need £20 for a present) so you are back where you started.0 -
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I don;t know if it's possible for you to free up your equity in the house. I also dont know if that's a good idea - maybe it's an insanely stupid idea.AngelPie78 wrote: »Ok, I have another post going in DFW and we've sort of got a solution to pay the rent this month, but I had forgotten that I was overdrawn, but that's ok because we had £62 extra floating around.
Yeah I saw.
I was homeless with the kids last year and not even their Dads would help. The council were useless and offered us emergency accomodation 15 miles away - I didn't have a car and I can't move the children's schools as their dad won't allow it. Also,

my main problems. I have no idea how much money I am getting in April, a minimum of £2000, but I can't plan anything because I am waiting for student finance/childcare providers to complete/process about 100 forms. I check daily online to see if anything's been sorted - it hasn't as yet.
Certainly seems like you need to find someplace cheaper. 900 odd quid a month is eye-watering for rent.
There is no-one to ask for credit. My mum has nothing and I have no other family. Banks and loan companies are a no go as I have no credit and that's just more debt, I guess.
Sorry, don't know how to help.
I could go bankrupt, but this costs money and would solve the debt problem [medium/long term] but not right now and I have to consider my ex-husband's house - see previous posts [can't remember what number post, sorry] going to consider with my solicitor's help in April, when Uni is finished.
In terms of a job, I have had a part time job but it caused me to become ill and the doctors wanted me to give up Uni and the job and to go on Disability
Was it an environment issue, like breathing in fumes and dust?
Benefits which I chose not to do. I did give up my job,
I don't know if it's too late, but maybe have a look if you can get the benefits for this.

ok you've totally lost me again.
In terms of the house equity, I am extremely unlikely to get this money within the next 13 years! Hence why I'm just ignoring it. If I even get it then, I will be stunned.
I understand what you're saying about people working with what they're given but then they are often making huge assumptions, which then upset an already highly strung situation [for me, anyway]. As much as I will cut them some slack, I don't think it's unfair to expect the same. And, in all fairness, I have never denied why I got here in the first place but I'm not the one who keeps bringing it up
if I wanted lectures and an ear-bashing, I'll just go to one of my exes or my Mum.
I am happy that the SOA I've done will work, with the information I have at the moment. My student loans change every academic year, depending on the government's say so and everything else I am entitled to depends on student finance. I am also waiting for extra childcare places as I already miss one lecture a week to pick up my kids, so this will then change things again. Like I said in one of the first posts, it is hard to budget for the long term as my income changes very often.
I was just asking if anyone knew of this service. It was a simple question and I was, obviously, a bit naive to expect such practical help. I have actual had an offer of help from a local person via Facebook - where I posted the same information as on the original thread and had a completely different response. This is a free offer from someone at our local church. It's someone who just wants to help another person out who has found themselves in a sticky situation.
Some people do do things for free and just to be nice and helpful.
I just think it's strange the different responses, that's all.
thank again. you've stuck with me all day

He sounds rather rubbish. Maybe investigate any kind of legal pressure you can exert on him? tried at the time as we were gong through the divorce and it was expensive and i wouldn't get funding for it. Might also lose any access to the boys.

Certainly seems like you need to find someplace cheaper. 900 odd quid a month is eye-watering for rent.not in my area. The house i live in should be £1000+ but I get it at mates rates. Kind of goes back to the proximity/travel to school for the boys and what I can afford. Also, trying to get a house with three beds when you have no credit, no job and no guarantor is not easy! It's a landlord's market - but good try.

I don't know if it's too late, but maybe have a look if you can get the benefits for this.not too late but don't see the point. Would be doing nothing with my life - just living off other people's money. It's bad enough that I have to take benefits now
also would be worse off.

Ok again out of my expertise so get advise
£10k? if his is a family home with kids then if you went bankrupt it may just end up as a charge so no longer your issue to recover the money
This is complicated and obviously has history(don't need to know)
just trying to help.0 -
I am curious
if you actually found this budgeting service who told you exactly how to manage your finances
would be actually take any notice of them?
-so if they said you can't afford the holiday, would you cancel it?
-if they said you can't afford birthdays for the children because you have overspent elsewhere would you cancel them?
-if they gave you a fixed amount to spend one week but you overspent would you then go without at the week end?
would you stick to what they said
or would you say that your children shouldn't suffer because of your failing and deserve a life etc etc?
what would it be?0 -

Ahh. I did computer science degree. Was fun. Took me 2 years after graduating to get a job in the industry though
sometimes, the market is saturated with new graduates. Best of luck with your studies!

This is probably the most saturated area of computing, kids do it for fee and it is internationally mobile.
Do you have other background skills to back it up?

Yeah, hence the portfolio and plan to work from home, around the kids. If I get some contracting work (£££!) or a fixed term role that works, then I'll probably take it, but am not holding out any hope. That way I won't be too disappointed lol x0 -

I'm not entirely sure of the point of your post?
The only thing in your "list" which I've said I wouldn't compromise on was the kids' birthdays and I think people seem to have got the wrong end of the stick and think I'm spending £100s on them.
I've already said I'll cancel the holiday and am happy to do without anything on the "weekend" (?) and do without my plonk.
So, what's your point?0
