Take your photo to Wickes, B&Q or similar and they will sell you the bit you need.

Or unscrew it and take it with you

Remember to stick the plug in, and leave a note for anyone in the house NOT to use sink until you return!

Fit a washing machine or twist it upwards vertically

Unscrew it with your very own hands.
    Make sure people know.
Go to b and q or the like and ask for/look for a blank.
Its a circular disc of plastic that will fit in the hole and block off the water.
Come home with blank and pipe fit together and re screw with own hands
If you in future buy and fit a washer/dishwasher, take the blank out and fit hose instead.

    Problem solved.

Even better, the blue handle in the back of the photo, turn it and that will solve your issue.

Err, please don't do as suggested - that's the turn off for the cold water feed for the dishwasher - you will get very wet

We usually use several layers of cling film over the end held in place with some electrical tape, easy to remove when you need to use the pipe.
  • As jennifernil said, use several layers of cling film and a rubber band. Job done.

from your nearest diy store. Or take out the spiggot u-bend and just attach a standard one. It all just unscrews.
