TCOD, now I am going to sound like a witch because you have no idea how much your post has cheered me up! I am NOT happy that you are struggling too but it is nice to know I am not the only one. After all, misery loves company...!
I know exactly what you mean about feeling like a rubbish pregnant woman. That is me. I also have a few friends at work who sound like they had wonderful pregnancies. Never sick once, 'bloomed' all the way through and had loads of energy etc. They are lovely ladies and very kind to me but I still feel like they are thinking 'what on earth is she always moaning about?'0 -
teaandcakeordeath wrote: »Daisi- re. the low blood pressure, I was advised to drink a lot more water, less caffeine and reduce alcohol (not possible as it's quite rare that I drink!) and also to increase my salt intake- the diarolyte sachets were recommended. My GP did muse about giving me support socks to push the blood up from my legs but I persuaded him it really wasn't an option! I've also been getting dizzy lately so have added an iron supplement to my pregnancy vitamin regime which does seem to be helping a little with the dizziness and tiredness.
Thanks for the advice! Will up the water even more. Don't really have caffeine (don't drink coffee, am on decaf tea and rarely have any chocolate) and have the odd quarter glass of wine about twice a month. Salt might be a point as I do not add salt to my food and don't eat many convenience foods. I have some dialoryte in the cupboard so should try that. Other people have mentioned iron supplements to me. Do they not mess up your digestion though?
Thanks for the advice - you have already been more helpful than my doctor and midwife who simply said 'there is nothing we can do, just be glad it is not high'!0 -

If you are going to take iron please use spatone it is a liquid that you mix with orange juice much kinder & more gentle to you as a PG lady.
I have lived off it since I was PG with DD2 as I developed Pernicious anemia.....

I found out all of these little tips when they put me on beta blockers for palpitations that I get and my already low blood pressure went stupidly low. They didn't want me to come off the blockers (I have since- they made me feel terrible) so gave me these tips! I now add more salt to my cooking- never used to add it at all and I do think it's helped a little- obviously stay within the recommended daily amounts though!
I've been taking feroglobin- it's rank (malt, orange and honey mixed into a baby poo green syrup and described as 'delicious'- the audacity of them!) but when it's gone will try floradix. They're both iron liquid supplements which are supposed to be less constipating- tbh I haven't really had much constipation past 1st trimester anyway. I took the tablets when I was anaemic in my teens and they were terrible for constipation.
Glad that my being rubbish at pregnancy cheered you up! :rotfl: I'm not one of those women who glide around in pregnancy looking and feeling fabulously serene- I'll just have to accept it! My eye is on the prize anyway, all this faff to get there is time consuming!0 -
Off to get some spatone- sounds more palatable than my options! Makes sense with the orange as well. Thanks tink!
ETA: it's 3 for 2 in boots at the mo- haven't checked if it's cheaper elsewhere yet though...0 -
